pnms and the truth about rush and the "top three"
by: ShockedEvery post on this site about the top three is condescending and demeaning. Not every PNM wants DDD, XO and KD and it's pure vanity to think they do. I'm from a hometown that has a huge contingency here and we have wonderful girls in every chapter. To continuously perpetuate the myth that you are so blessed to get a "top three" bid is ridiculous. The only people who consider these sororities the best are their members. That's great and you should be proud of your sorority but you should be able to show that pride without putting another group down. Maximize your options and look carefully at each group. Pledge where you feel at home and see yourself making true friends. Don't pledge ddd, XO or KD because they are the "best" because that might not be the best for you. There are amazing girls in each sorority here and that's the truth.

The responses to this post are so ridiculous . I bet if all the posts on here said DG, kappa and Aopi were "top three", people would believe that and their return rates would improve. Stop insisting those are the only sororities that matter. Don't you want to pledge girls that truly want to be there? I know my sorority does. I have great friends in almost every house but I wouldn't want to be a member of every house. I like the overall feel and sisterhood in my house. It felt like home. Let's be positive and help the PNMs get excited for rush!!!

I literally don't understand why anyone would down-vote this. It's saying that the only "top houses" that matter are where the individual PNM feels comfortable. I'm in one of those "top three" houses, and I know i'd rather have sisters who join us because they feel comfortable and at home, rather than just because they thought they had to. That's not what breeds real sisterhood. And we can tell when a girl is going through recruitment with that "top house or nothing" mentality and we try to drop her as quickly as possible.
Also, there's no way to judge another house's sisterhood unless you're in it.

I am a phi mu. I wanted to be a kd but I got caught smoking pot in the dorms before rush and rumors flew. Kd dropped me. Ddd dropped me. X O dropped me too. I love phi mu. I love my sisters. I love my sorority. But I don't for a second believe that phi mu is top tier or equal to the top three.
And you know what? That's okay! Seriously! Being a phi mu means the eyes of every other sorority don't get stuck on you! It means you can be yourself, screw up, have fun, make memories and nobody cares what you do or judge you harshly for it. I'm in a way glad not to have been selected for membership in the top tier. I'm loving life right here where I am!

I got cut from the so called top tier and it hurt but I got over it and pledged a great house. Would I have been happy in one of the top houses?I'll never know. Do I love my house? Heck yeah! As a senior I can say I have friends in just about every house here and the ones who love it are the ones that are active in their house. I have never once been had any problem getting a date to anything because of my house. My current boyfriend is in a top fraternity here and from MS- I am not and his family has been nothing but nice to me. All this is just to say a lot of girls don't get in the top houses but STILL have a great time in the house they get in. Relax it will work out and you will be fine!

Thank you DG for your two cents.
