I'm bored with this. Rumors and lies and just a bunch of people talking about things they know nothing about!

Nobody knows how rush is going to go. Even you top tier girls! This isn't Mississippi state. This is ole miss.

We've been told that we aren't taking as many legacies one day, then forced to sit through a slide show of 100's of legacies the next.

Can't trust the rush teams to tell you the truth!

You are right ! I'm sick of it !!! Who wants to be in a sorority with only girls from one area and everyone is the same ? BORING !!!

These are not rumors or lies. Variable quota is a fact for this recruitment. If you have any friends at Mississippi State you would understand. Believe it or not the only difference in recruitment at State and Ole Miss is the number of PNMs going through recruitment.

I trust my rush team. They are preparing our chapter to handle this as best as we possible can.

The houses who are considered lower tier have tried in the past to bring in help from the other members of same chapter from other states and it didnt' help because GR and tent talk is not going to let them get better. They have really tried, but you can't make girls want to join a house that other houses continues to stigmatize them. It's sad, but true. Hate that we all can't get along.

You are delusional if you think theta is bad because of Greek rank. Honestly most over the girls on campus don't even know this website exists.

Tent talk is the biggest killer of a lower tier chapter for PNM's that are easily influenced. And that isn't uncommon when you are a freshman just wanting to fit in.

All the groups have similar ideals. Scholarship, leadership, social, sisterhood. Yes, some need to improve on some, but in general we are all based on the same ideals.

Ok, so upthread someone made the suggestion that a struggling chapter figure out how to fix their problems. This has already been done over the past few years with national, regional and even other sororities on campus willing to cut girls sooner to help this chapter and it didn't help. All the girls did that had that house on their card was drop out. I suspect the variable quota will cause the same thing. Variable quota most definitely helps the middle tier houses for sure, though. And if they don't know about GR they hear the tent talk year after year.

It definitely didn't help ADPi at State. Panhellenic had hoped they would get around 150 new members, but they got somewhere in the 60s due to all the PNMs who didn't show up for bid day.

well I guess DG, Kappa and Phi Mu will benefit from having to take a large class...They are trying to even it out but what will hurt them is have to take subpar GPA's.

My point exactly. Variable quota won't help the bottom house but definitely helped middle tier houses.

Everybody gets out of state girls that are not from Memphis, Nashville and Birmingham. Tons of girls from Texas and Ga.

Phi Mu, Kappa, Pi Phi, and possibly AOPi will benefit the most from variable quota this recruitment.

Honestly, what Ole Miss needs to start doing is stop guaranteeing bids to girls if they maximize their options. I have friends at/or graduated from schools with the same number of chapters but far less girls going through the process. Around half or a little over half of the girls who entered the process come out with bids. These schools have still expanded their Greek community without the chapters busting at the seams by limiting their pledge class numbers.

People also need to stop having the mentality that one chapter is better over the other. Ole Miss is a southern school where rush is extremely competitive. Each chapter is amazing compared to chapters at other schools! You'd be lucky to be apart of any of them. Consider yourself blessed to receive a bid.

Is guaranteed bidding a mandatory NPC/RFM thing when a PNM ranks all her chapters after pref? I've read conflicting information about this on other boards.

Someone who claimed to be a Rho Chi at Mizzou swore that she had to tell a PNM that she didn't get a bid after pref even though she maximized her options.

If you have a full pref schedule and rank all the houses you attended then you're guaranteed a bid, but if you don't have a full pref schedule (say you only get invited to one chapter), even if you rank them, you're not guaranteed a bid because technically you couldn't maximize your options since you didn't attend 3 possible houses so you couldn't rank 3 houses. Basically you have to have a full pref schedule in order to be eligible to maximize your options and be guaranteed a bid

Everyone SHOULD be rejoicing because if the other houses can build themselves up then in a year or two this means lower quotas for EVERYONE. Honestly the pledge sizes are out of control. As is the tearing down of other houses. People should be talking the so called lower tiers up because it will only help everyone in the end...
