Don't get your hopes up if no actives have reached out to you and introduced you to other actives! Please don't get your hopes up a lot of people hate chi o because we are very selective and girls who are cut (many) had gotten their hopes up. (I reposted this from my earlier comment because it is so important that girls understand that rush isn't easy, and nothing is guaranteed)

And let's take this one step further. If you are cut from a house that you had your heart set on, or a house that you assumed was the best fit for you, or a house that you assumed would be giving you a bid....keep an open mind on other houses. Don't drop and hope for COB or sophomore rush. That is not likely to work in your favor! Consider other houses, look for other opportunities, etc. The chapters at Ole Miss are huge. The chapters are all tied to strong national organizations. There is a place for everybody. You just have to be open to it. IGNORE tent talk or what your mom, aunt, and sister have been telling you for the past 6 years.

why leave off Theta, ADPi and Aphi? You may not even realize what you did here, but with this post you are part of the problem. Variable quota could work really well, but it will only work if people get over the whole "all houses are good....but really it's only these specific places."

I agree with focusing this post of xo/ddd/kd. These houses have to cut well over half the PNM's coming through this year AFTER FIRST ROUND. Slightly more than DG/Phi Mu/Kappa, and significantly more than Pi Phi/AOP. Theta, AdPi, & aphi won't have to cut any after the first round. Girls will automatically drop off their lists when they choose other houses over theirs.
Second round will be other huge cuts, etc. By the third round, they have cut everybody that is not on their target lists. If you make it to third round, then you know they want you, it's just a number's game after that.
This will be based on return rates for the past three years! The top three houses have all had 95%+ return rates. The middle houses have had around 85-75% return rates. They go down from there.
The unfortunate point the OP was trying make was that girls get their feelings major hurt when they get dropped by ANY house! The top houses simply have to drop more girls than other houses, and as a result hurt a lot of feelings. (surly you know it's a number's game and nothing personal!) The problem comes in when some those girls who had their feelings hurt take it very personal and end up with a vicious vendetta against the houses that cut them.
Just wait until rush week. The top houses will be picked on brutally, viciously, and most important falsely!

You really need the gamma chi to do a good job of explaining this to PNM. State did a terrible job. Girls thought that they were cutting when they were really just ranking the houses.
Many girls are legacies that understand the process and will probably pledge a chapter legacy. However, non legacy or OOS/non chapter legacies will have just as good a resume and get cut and will not understand why.
Please to prevent so many hurt feelings.... explain over and over, PNM do not cut they only rank. All of the decision lies with the houses until Pref night. Then you may choose to sign a card for a house or not.

I am just explaining the situation with 3 houses, I agree with you there are great other houses and everyone should keep their options open but I'm saying girls shouldn't get their hopes up as these chapters are taking way less girls this year. Other sororities will benefit from this and every sorority will get great girls! I am just trying to prepare girls for disappointment if they put all their eggs in one basket. Sugar coating rush will end up really hurting girls who get cut from a house they really like! It's a fact that this year's rush will be extremely competitive, but hopefully variable quota will work out as planned.
