dg kkg phi mu

DG - most of their girls pref DG and a top 3 house. I'd venture to say about half of those girls got DG as their second choice and the other half picked them over a top 3. The rest of their girls probably just missed the top 3 and had DG and another house left. Basically they are just as competitive as the top 3 and are probably the toughest on GPA. Like the top 3, DG has a strong tradition at Ole Miss and are pretty heavy on in-state/Memphis or girls with in-house connections/legacies. They definitely do get amazing OOS girls but those spots are competitive.
Kappa and Phi Mu - They go after whole package girls, most of which just missed going top 3, with the occasional girl who picks them over a top 3, or DG. They are much more laid back and less intense then top 3 and DG, but still competitive and respected. Both have a good mix of in-state girls and great OOS girls that are top house material but slipped though the top tier. Kappa is more social, life of the party girls, and Phi Mu is more girl next door, sweetheart.

Something for PNM's to think about. With smaller quotas this year, yes this middle tier will also have smaller quotas! When I was going through rush, I concentrated on top tier. I met chapter alumni, actives, got to really know the girls, etc. I didn't spend so much time on the rest (even though i was a DG non-chapter legacy). Both DG & Kappa dropped me after first round. Those were the only cuts I experienced throughout the week.

For those of you who think middle tier means not having to work so hard, you're wrong! You still need connections in all the top 6 sororities.

I did end up in my first choice sorority, but funny thing is that every single one of my best friends prior to rush ended up going either DG or Kappa. I always wonder if I should have worked harder on making connections instead of turning my nose up.

I hang out with my DG friends when I want a nice quiet evening, or a great friend to share my secrets with. I hang out with Kappa when I want to get rowdy and cut loose. I hang out with Phi Mu when I want to be around girls who are just real and not judgmental.
