connections....connections.....commections
by: OOS
I am from OOS and have heard it's all about connections when it comes to which house you can get a bid to. I have a high GPA and multiple recs for each house but I don't know anyone! Will
I still get a chance with the bigger houses?

All the houses are big. Too big for that matter. The only exception is aphi who is just starting out, but this year they will take a huge pledge class.
Without connections you will most likely take some big hits. Unless you are beautiful and extremely outgoing, it's unlikely the top four houses will even notice you. Maybe even the top six.
There are still five great houses that connections don't matter as much, largely because of return rates and the fact they they won't have to make big cuts after the first two rounds and can get to know you a little better through out rush week.
Good luck!

Being from OOS is honestly not an excuse. There are plenty of alumni all over the country for you to connect with! I live two states away and found tons of Ole Miss alumni in my hometown! Those Alumni all introduced me to actives.
It's too late now, but for girls coming through next year, start looking now for Ole Miss alumni in your hometown! Contact your local Rebel Club and Panhellenic office.

It is all about legacy and connections period
Had great recs from chapter alums. Winner of multiple beauty pageants. 4.0 GPA with 18 hours. But I was not a legacy and did not know girls in some houses. Was cut first round. Landed in a great house but if you want the "top 6 " houses at any SEC school it is all about who you know in the house to campaign for you.

I was a dg legacy and was cut after the first round. Legacy status doesn't really mean what you think it does.
I was also cut from kappa first round because again I knew absolutely no one.
I had connections in xo, kd, ddd, and phi mu and was kept around through skit for all four of those. I preffed three of those houses.
I didn't know a single person attending ole miss until I started reaching out to ole miss alumni in my hometown starting the fall of my senior year in high school. I attended 3 spring parties, invited by girls who knew me through introductions. I only had a 3.2 gpa and never competed in any pageant.
Connections more than any other thing counts the most. At least for the top 6 houses.
Luckily for ole miss girls, we still have five amazing sororities that put more of an emphasis on your resume and who you are rather than who you know.
Top tier is great, but so is bottom tier! Freshmen are all living together in the dorms right now, the friends you are making now will all join different sororities, but magically you will all remain friends.
