gpa and rush

by:

I have a 2.66 GPA and DG has a 2.5 requirement. But I do have lots of close friends in the house and went to a bunch of the brunches and other activities for PNMS!! Do I have a chance at all?

It is very unlikely you will get a bid from there even with a few connections, especially because of the new variable quota system. Keep an open mind and be prepared for very heavy cuts

Not a chance. Perhaps you were invited to the brunches and activities before they knew your gpa. Or maybe you were invited because you are friends with girls they are interested in.

Either way, you are a huge grade risk. How did you even get into ole miss? I'm not completely sure you will be able to handle the academics even without the distractions a sorority will have.

With how competitive this year will be you are going to be lucky to make it into any chapter with that GPA. I"m sorry I'm not trying to be mean at all, I just want you to be prepared. If you get a bid anywhere take it because you're lucky! I agree the DGs probably don't know your grades and if they do they're obviously your friends and are just trying to make sure you have a good rush but I doubt you'll survive the cuts because they are one of the most strict on grades.

If you were Miss Teen America, you MIGHT get a bid with a 2.66, but I doubt it.

Why haven't you read this on the Ole Miss Recruitment FAQ page?

GPA Zones
Green Zone = Your options are not likely limited based on your GPA. (3.0 + )

Yellow Zone = Your options are more likely to be limited by your GPA. (2.8 – 2.99)

Red Zone = Your options are very likely to be limited based on GPA. (2.79 and below)

Spend your time studying. Save your money. Don't waste it on rush.

DG may have a PUBLISHED 2.5 minimum GPA. That has nothing to do with reality. Literally not a single bid went to a PNM with a GPA that low last year.

So why would the publish such a low GPA then? I'm not going to rush this year anymore but I don't understand why they'd say that if they have such high standards

Sororities GPA requirements are set at the national level. So nationally DG's requirement is above whatever they published, can't remember if it's 2.5 or 2.75. Most sororities are one of those 2. But that absolutely does not mean a chapter will take someone with that GPA.
