In 1958 Mary Ann Mobley was the first Miss Mississippi to win Miss America. The next year Mobley crowned another Miss Mississippi Lynda Lee Mead to be Miss America. The two were Chi Omega sorority sisters at Ole Miss

I believe Mary Ann Mobley also denounced her membership a few years later when her sister was denied membership.

Sorry this post is sad considering only one Miss Mississippi in the past 10 years has been an Ole Miss student. No reason to live in the distant past.

This post is so sad because it just calls attention to how much importance is still placed at this school on winning pageants. There's a lot more these days to aspire to if you're looking for actual prestige. Talk about living in the past.
