how hard is it to get a bid (not from the top tier) if your grades are not too good? my grades are not terrible, but they are not the best either.

hard. consider AOPI, THETA, ADPI, ALPHA PHI, MAYBE PI PHI. those are your options

I actually know of one of those houses listed that has a pretty strict grade policy

Unless you are a legacy. Then it doesn't matter what kind of grades you have, They have to give you a bid.

Legacies don't really matter! Last year girls got cut with in-house sisters because their grades were bad.

Well actually where you're wrong is, I know several girls who have gone through rush at Ole Miss the last two years who were legacies that were in the red zone and got bids to top houses here. Unless you have socially screwed up BAD, you will get a bid no matter your grades IF you are a legacy.

My chapter has TOO many legacies rushing. We could make up 2 whole pledge classes of just legacies. We only keep 25-40% of our legacies during rush. SO ACTUALLY being a legacy is hard for top houses. You're competing with the other legacies for not very many spots.

Please be honest for the sake of everyone going thru rush. Very very seldom does a chapter legacy not get a bid. It's a fact.

When people are talking about legacies they mean Ole Miss legacies. Just because your momma went to Alabama and was in XYZ sorority that does not make you a shoe in to XYZ at Ole Miss. That only gets you invited back to Philanthropy. All legacies are not given bids!!

I was a triple DG legacy with a 3.4 gpa. No scandals, pretty. I was cut by DG after the first round.

I was not a chapter legacy.

In my current sorority we drop non legacies if they don't have at least a 3.2. Legacies get dropped if they are below a 3.0. Doesn't matter if they are chapter legacies or not.

Well that's pretty weird, since one of the girls I was talking about above was a DG legacy, had a red zone GPA AND wasn't a chapter legacy. she is now a DG. you did something to mess up whether you'd like to admit it or not.

No, there was no secret scandal. I went through recruitment three years ago when we preffed 3 houses. I preffed all three top sororities. The only explanation would be that I didn't know any active's or chapter alumni. Perhaps the dg with the grade risk that did get a bid knew active's or chapter alumni

I guess connections count for more with dg than we initially thought.

Most sororities will cut you after greek day if you have below a 3.3, sorry! The only sororities that won't are adpi, alpha phi, and theta. I had a 3 but had very strong connections to a top tier house, and after philanthropy I only had 2 top tier and adpi and theta. I ended up preffing both top tier houses, but I would not have gotten that far unless I had my connections. I think I had almost 5 or six recs for those houses. I am also from out of state but my mother and family are close with many alumni. Good luck!

Also Pi phi and kappa cut me because I had a below a 3.3

I had a 3.2 and was cut from dg and kappa after the first round. Top houses kept me around because I had connections, they are more willing to keep girls with above a 3.0 because they have more girls to balance out the low ones.

Big however, I heard that Ddd was stepping up their grade requirements to make them more competitive grades wise. Apparently they are tired of always being number 4 with gpa.

Kappa did it two years ago but is still having problems. And phi mu is also working hard on raising theirs. Phi mu actually broke into the "above the Greek average" category last fall along with xo, dg, kd, and Ddd.
