In the university released statement it said "Sigma Chi will be losing their charter unti the current pledge class has graduated" so it looks like they'll be bringing the fraternity back. But theyre gonna clean house first

False. No such statement has been made. A university does pull a charter that's up to fraternity nationals. A university can simply remove the fraternity from campus with or without a charter.

I agree with you that those particular boys did feel safe in their behavior because of years and years of acceptance, and not just at Derby Days. Plenty of women have hated it over the years but did not speak up, we get that. But here's the thing: there have been plenty of guys over the years who also did not think this behavior is acceptable from their brothers but they didn't speak up year after year either! Fraternity men are not all crass, nor are they stupid, the majority know better. So anyone, male or female, who thought this stuff was inappropriate and continued to let it happen because they didn't want to rock the boat is culpable for where we are with it now. You can't blame the sororities without calling the fraternity men on it too. So here we are, in the national news no less, some calling for heads to roll and others arguing about how this happens all the time so that makes it okay. It has never been and never will be okay to say this kind of stuff to or about anyone in public or accept it from others. You can think whatever rude jokes you want or say them privately to your friends, but if you didn't understand before where that line was that no one should cross, well here it is. Learned the hard way, no? Too bad we, all of us, didn't stop it before it came to this.
