DPhiE just announced informal recruitment so how about instead of hating on them for being unhoused we send our support like all Greeks should. At IU you are lucky to be a part of any sorority and I encourage all pnms that didn't get a bid or dropped out to strongly consider DPhiE!

SK is not going to be everything it's being hyped to be. Not to say they are not going to grow or get better, but Colonization classes are always rough and they will not be able to cut anyone in formal recruitment their first few years.

SK will come in strong, I have been to two of the info meetings and I saw tons of cute girls there. Met one who's mom is an SK who said their alums have been planning for this for three years. I don't think it will be rough, the events sound like fun. The only thing you have to go to the interview. If you don't like it, don't sign a bid card and you're free to do informal after that.

Not being able to release women in formal recruitment for at least 3 years is rough.

it's also not remotely true. so tired of people coming on here and spreading lies. sigma kappa will grow the way they want to. i feel sorry for dphie but clearly they have problems that are no other sorority's fault and they need to stop coming on here to bash sigma kappa. it has obviously backfired on them.

It's completely true. Sorry you don't understand how it works.

You have no idea how RFM works. Hint: it doesn't require new chapters to invite everyone back. So much misinformation spread here.

So people rag on DPhiE because they supposedly take everyone, but they're basically recommending SK to everyone because everyone will be able to get in? Makes no sense.

Every chapter can cut for GPA. Each one sets their own minimum, whether it's 2.8 or higher. Their individual nationals will back them if they are making those cuts. ASA cut a lot of girls and they made quota, so yes, unhoused chapters can cut women. Chapters may be looking for different qualities in new members based on who graduated, what their chapter goals are, etc. Chapters may be looking for GPA, leadership, bike team, girls who can sing or who have other special talents. No one knows but the girls in the chapters.

There is cute girls in every sorority. No one is questioning they will have some cute girls. They won't have 150 of them.

Sounds like IU expanded too rapidly. They should be fully supporting all existing sororities before adding new ones.

Are you new here?

The issue has to do with bed quota, housed vs. unhoused groups and perception that some groups will be getting houses before others do. The only way that new sororities could be "fully supported" is if they all had new houses they minute they came to campus or if all the sororities were kicked out of their houses and given dorm suites (ha ha).

by: What a joke....

It seems to me that the sororities just care about having a house, rather than build a strong, solid sisterhood that will continue for generations. A House is only a physical structure. IT IS NOT MAKE THE SISTERHOOD!!! The women in the sororities are what make the sisterhood become successful and NOT the house. Think about it....if a sisterhood dies out, the house still remains. Just another sorority and /or fraternity will just take it over and so on, and so on.

Yes there are sororities in a lot of places that don't have housing and have close strong sisterhoods, but ON THIS CAMPUS a house that all the members live in is something that is a big part of sorority life, and criticizing women for caring about it isn't going to help anyone. To say that all the sorority members care about here is the house is unfair.

can they have informal recruitment before Sigma Kappa colonizes? That breaks NPC rules and they should be turned in for the violation.

There are many great girls in dphie and some of my best friends and also many not so great girls. No matter what sk puts itself out to be, being a new sorority, it will struggle for the first few years to stand on its own. However, to be accepted by IUs other chapters, it needs to prove that those girls will be panhellenic and support every chapter. Otherwise #onegreekcommunity only stands for when people die. We should support all sororities because someone finds their home there and that doesn't affect your life.

I encourage all women to consider both SK and DPhiE! SK won't be able to take everyone so waiting for them and not checking out DPhiE at all may not be in your best interest
