elitists

Everyone on GR commending IU for having such an exclusive and elite rush process is pathetic. State schools like Alabama and Arizona and Florida take large pledge classes (100+ girls) and have some of the best/hottest greek life in the country. Patting yourself on the back for being "elite" and taking small pledge classes makes you look so stupid.

Totally agree. This isn't elite it's called being exclusive which at a state public institution makes you not better than junior high mentality.

Everyone knows that for the most part recruitment is a lucky event...so much hinges on who rushes you and who you may know. A LOT of stuff goes on behind each chapters closed doors....so luck is involved.

My friends and I love our chapter and our actual house is gorgeous but at 21 we are ready to live out, at IU you can't, which is ridiculous.

I have friends all over the country in pledge classes from 9 to 100 and all of them are tight with their sisters. In any size class there are people you will naturally gravitate and be closer with than others.. As they say, size doesn't matter.

I don't think any other university is envious of our recruitment.

While I had a very successful recruitment 3 years ago I know plenty of awesome, gorgeous and smart girls that didn't and have been left out of Greek life. It's time for change.

Kudos to you for being a major Adult! I personal would NOT want to live in my house after two years. I love my sisters but a career was my goal when choosing IU. Its time for me to move on that's why, I HATE the QUOTA !

Not at all, in a house that I love and had a full schedule all the way through. My friends and I can speak the truth, looks like it got under your skin for some reason. Lmfao

I am happy with IU, but my take on this is that not all students or programs at IU are elite. Those not in elite programs think that bringing peers down in the greek system will bring them up. Grow up kids!

It's pretty widespread in all of Greek life. We have no elite Greek life. Those that could be are more worried about social status than sisterhood/brotherhood and making sure everyone knows their "status" while others are hurt they are treated with so much disrespect and respond accordingly. We could be #1 but only if everyone treats everyone with respect.

It has nothing to do with being elite imo. I want to actually know all my sisters, not be in a club with 400 women most of whom I barely know or don't even recognize. I also wonder how many women in those big pledge classes stay around till senior year.

So you know all 150 of your sisters? Soon to be 200 in a couple of years? I call bs. No matter what the size of the chapter, close friend groups are 5-10 sisters.

Reading is fundamental. Knowing people is different than being "close friends" with them. There's actually a study that says you can only handle a certain amount of friends (I think it's 100). No I do not know all their hometowns by heart and their pets names...but I know them enough to recognize them and not say "who's that? Oh it's a sister! Ha ha ha." If by your account I can only have 5-10 close friends in a sorority, why not just stay in a dorm and have 5-10 close friends without paying sorority dues?

Honestly, who cares if you "know" them by face but nothing else. I recognized people from prior classes all the time - that's not bonding or sisterhood. That's a silly excuse.
