spring fraternity rush!

by: Nervous

Hello GR,
I plan on rushing in the spring due to realizing I wouldn't have any time during the fall rush period. As a freshmen there was alot of things I had to get used too. I have three main concerns about rushing so if you guys could answer some of my questions It would be greatly appreciated.
My first main concern is my race, I am Indian. I was born in california and lived there my entire life. So my question is, will my race be a factor in determining which fraternities will offer me a bid?
Second,i currently live in the Collins LLC dorm. I originally applied to live there beacuse of its close knit community and its extensive student government. I have found that rather then close knit it is extremely cliquey which is a huge turn off for me. I am though, extremely involved in the student government as I hold positions in both the Executive Board and the Conduct Board. So my question is will my living in collins hinder my chances of getting a bid? Plus will my involvement in the community help me garner a bid?
my third concern is that I have no connections to any fraternity , I have reached out to certain rush chairs of fraternities that I maybe interested it . But is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of getting a bid?
Any advice would be welcome ! Please and thank you!
From,
Freshmen

this whole thing while very thorough and nice, leads me to believe that you may not get a bid. Greek life at IU is very elitist and above everyone, so its a tough group to be a part of if you dont really fit in

This whole message comes off as extremely needy and insecure. Be a chill dude and you have a chance regardless of race. Best of luck

Race isn't really an issue at IU white, black, purple if the brothers like your personality then you shouldn't have a problem

Rush and give it a try. The system normally works out and if you meet/talk to the right people and they think you fit in then you will get a bid. Good luck man.
