grades

Lots of questions/misinformation about grade exceptions and Panhellenic rules. The unanimous national Panhellenic agreement SOMEONE keeps referring to simply means that Panhellenic will not override the individual chapters' right to set their own GPA minimums. I.e. If a chapter has a minimum requirement of 2.8, Panhellenic cannot dictate a minimum requirement of 2.9 for pnm participation in formal recruitment. IT DOES NOT MEAN IU HAS TO LET EVERYONE PARTICIPATE REGARDLESS OF GPA!!!!! At IU, 2.8 is the LOWEST that any chapter will take per their organization's national membership standards. If IU Panhellenic let anyone participate, they would have a lot of angry pnms totally cut after day one.
Grade exceptions do rarely occur but they are the exception. Having a couple friends in a chapter or being cute is not enough for chapters to make an exception. Period. IU has too many great, qualified, beautiful pnms who made grades to take risks on someone who didn't make a 2.8. Unless you have an older sister currently in an IU chapter, a family member who is a bigwig with the national organization, etc trust me, you don't have the connections or the "in" you think you have. Please do yourself a favor and stop asking questions about an appeal of an appeal of an appeal.
