spring fraternity rush
by: Geed
Hey GR. I am an out of state student that rushed in the fall with no luck. It felt like I had some solid conversations during open houses. I have literally zero connections as no one from my school attends here and none of the friends or even acquaintances I have made in the first semester are greek.
If I'm pretty sure it's not just that I'm a goob, is there anything I can do that might help my chances for this semester? I've always thought that having a brotherhood would be awesome and would really improve my college experience.

When you say you rushed with no luck, can you be more specific? Did you cast a wide net and maybe not make strong enough impressions/connections? Or did you just concentrate on a few chapters where you really may not have been a good fit?
If you're still interested, check around to find out when the rush events are for the chapters you liked. Look around in your classes, are there fraternity men in there? If so, strike up a casual conversation with them. Make genuine friendships with the guys in chapters, the rest will follow.

I mostly focused on three fraternities where I thought I'd best fit in from what I saw during the house tours. I felt like I hit it off with a few guys at all 3, one of them in particular, but formal rush was very short and I never heard anything back after that for closed events. I haven't even seen hardly anyone that I remember talking to in the houses walking around campus.
I'm sure there are some fraternity men in some of my classes, but nobody that I've actually met obviously has been. Many of my classes were giant lectures, so I mostly just chilled and listened to the professor, unless I went and sat with friends from my dorm, clubs, etc.
