transfering

by: Curious

I am thinking about transferring and wondering what greek life is like at IU. I know several frats are on probation, but what are sororities like here? Do a lot o girls join? Is it competitive for transfers? Is it competitive for freshman ? Not exactly clear from these boards. How big are the typical pledge classes? Is greek life still big on this campus?

You're welcome. Seriously, the difficulty of IU's recruitment is on the first page or a Google search away. You're looking to troll, that's all. Go away GDI

hey! ok so there's 22 sororities on campus. 3 of them are unhoused, so they live in apartments and have chapter in classrooms, etc. there is a huge tier system here at IU which is pretty annoying. pledge classes used to be really small for top tier houses but now panhel is making everyone take 50 girls. if you're in a sorority at the school you're at now, it really depends on the chapter you'd be trying to transfer into if they'd want you are not. some chapters are basically forced to take you, some its up to them. if you're not in a sorority and are transferring and going through recruitment as a sophomore, it won't be easy. some houses don't take sophomores but plenty do so don't be that worried, you just have to make sure your gpa is high because the requirement for most houses for sophomores is a lot higher than it is for freshmen. rush is extremely competitive here. over 2,000 girls sign up for about 900 spots (i guess more like 1,000 now that they all have to take 50) so be prepared to be upset, but have an open mind and you'll be fine. hope this helps
