options to formal rush

by: Fresh

Hi. I am a freshman with decent gpa (3.1)
I am not sure I want to go through formal rush. I see snap bids and COB bids.
Would this be an option for me if I don't want to go through the entire process? I know a few girls in a few houses.

You cannot receive a snap bid unless you begin the process, chapters have to meet you and score you for you to make their snap bid list. Having a friend or two may help with COB assuming their chapter does not make quota, however last year 17 of the 22 chapters made quota: one of those deliberately chose to not bid to quota, two were newer chapters, and two COBed to quota prior to Bid Night as they only had one or two spots. Two votes out of 150 are not going to help that much. I am sorry.

Your only real alternative to coming to recruitment is to wait for Sigma Kappa's colonization in early February.

Post #1 answered your question. You just didn't like the answer. Yes, formal recruitment is time consuming and intimidating, but it is the only way to have a chance at the majority of the 22 chapters. If you do not go through recruitment, you are looking at COB at an unhoused chapter or SK colonization.

post 1 answered you question perfectly. If you are liking to put in the effort formal recruitment entails, why should a sorority put in an effort to COB you? You could just try for Sigma Kappa and circumvent formal recruitment, but SK is not going to take everyone.

And you will have no idea who your sisters will be - because all are chosen at the same time.

If you think formal Rush is hard, you'll have a hell of a time being part of a colony. It is nothing but hard work.
