snap bid

A snap bid is a bid offered to a PNM prior to Bid Day. Panhel or Rho Gams will call the PMN and ask if she is willing to accept a bid from XYZ chapter. The rest of the pledge class has no idea when a snap is given out. Snaps occur when:

1. a chapter does not make quota after bid matching. They are allowed to offer snap bids to women who have the qualifying GPA.

2. a PNM dropped out of recruitment in a late round and was still attending the chapter offering the bid OR cut the chapter offering the bid in a late round. Or a PNM DID have grades and decided NOT to return for recruitment in January and knows people in the chapter prior to recruitment.

Please remember they are not very common. Last year MOST snap bids were offered by mid-lower tier chapters. There were a handful offered to upper mid or top chapters. DO not get your hopes up and count on a snap bid. They are the exception, not the rule.
