gpa

I have a 2.78 GPA and was denied an appeal. Please is there anything I can do at all to rush this semester? I'm SO close to being able to.

Your so close. I would think that they would let you. Talk to your RG she should be able to help. With gpa that close there should be no reason they can't help you.

Asking the same question over and over will not change reality.

Your appeal was denied. And even if it weren't, most (if not all) houses will cut you after day one. The fact is that most houses have GPA requirements that exceed the minimum entry requirement. IU is WAY too competitive for houses to take grade risks on anything below a 3.0
Please listen to what most people are telling you: get those grades up and try again as a sophomore. You will have a much more successful recruitment as a sophomore with a 3.0 (or preferably higher) than as a freshmen on a waiver with a 2.78

Not same person. Do I stand a chance with COB bid?
Can I talk to girls in some of the houses about an after formal rush bid?

No, my chapter would not offer a COB to someone who did not make grades. There are maybe two or three chapters who would and two of them are unhoused.

Dont speak for other people's chapters. You don't know what they would/would not do for COB. The only COB to a low GPA freshman who did not participate in formal recruitment that I know of in my 3 years here was to a top tier sorority where she had family connections. Most sororities won't even know who you are to COB you.

Very very few houses COB. Once recruitment begins, communication between actives and pnms is forbidden.

I was looking at unanimous national Panhellenic rules. They say that you can't exclude someone from rushing based on gpa. How can Indiana have different rules ?

Suck. Even if your could participate in recruitment, you most likely would not get a bid. The chapters have much higher GPA requirements and most are not willing to take a grade risk, no matter how awesome she is. There are tons of awesome girls who DID make their grades.

If you couldn't make the minimum gpa requirement with fewer distractions than new sorority members will have, what makes you think you will be able to do it WITH those distractions, i.e., new member meetings, chapter meetings, sisterhoods, parties, etc.? Pledge the library this semester, get your GPA up, and rush next year.

Again, why would IU allow you to participate in something that will end badly? They are saving you time, money, and certain heartbreak since the lowest GPA requirement by any house is a 2.8.

work on your grades this next semester either try formal recruitment again next year or see about Sigma Kappa's rush. There's no guarantee that you will even make the grades by the time they do their rush, but its worth a shot

Would networking help someone get a Bid prior to rush despite grades?
Is there anything these girls can do? 2.78 is so so close.

They cannot network prior to recruitment. The silence period is going on, sorority women are not allowed to talk to PNMs unless they are related or have a prior relationship established before recruitment such as neighbors, co-workers, etc.

A 2.78 is only close to the minimum GPA, many chapters cut for anything lower than a 3.0.

then where is the line drawn? 2.78 is close, so how about girls with a 2.77? 2.76? 2.7? 2.6? Each sorority's nationals has set a number (the lowest of which at IU is 2.8) and there has to be a stopping point somewhere.

also. . .if she were allowed to rush with a "close" GPA, she would get cut from every house anyway as the LOWEST GPA taken by any house is a 2.8. Why try to bend the rules for rush if the rush process will end in sadness?

COB bids aren't really a thing. I don't know ANY sorority that does that. Even if you are able to rush, chances are you won't be able to get a bid anyways because that's below almost, if not everyone's, GPA standards,
