chances of getting cut from all sororities

by: Nervous freshman

What % of girls end up getting cut from all the sororities?

Is there a strategy when ranking houses to have a better chance of getting a bid?

Keep an open mind and don't cut houses bc of reputations that they might have. if you know that you're more than likely not going to get into a top tier house cut them early and focus on the other houses

About 50% get bids into ALL houses at IU

2015
• 2,088 women registered
• 1,234 women participated in bid matching
• 1,104 received bids
• 130 women not matched in process
2014
• 1,905 women registered
• 1,319 women participated in bid matching
• 1,002 received bids
• 317 women not matched in process

While these statistics are correct, they are misleading. Women who do not make grades are counted in the first number even though they do not participate in even one round of recruitment. Also counting in the not matched number are women who voluntarily drop because they do not get the houses back they want. With a new chapter coming in February, the drops will be a little higher than last year. PNMs who are left with one or two chapters they didn't "connect" with will be more likely to go through the colonization process and give Sigma Kappa a look since it is much stronger nationally than the three unhoused chapters currently at IU.

Another thing to remember is that going to preference does not guarantee a bid as it does on other campuses. Just because you get houses back, does not mean you will end up with a bid. Be smart in your rankings. For example, Tri Delta takes less than 50 women with only a handful of them being from Indiana, so if you don't love them put them down at 16. Also keep an open mind about the chapters that may not be as popular gossip wise. They all have strong sisterhoods and do the same exact things as every sorority does. Follow your head and your heart, not what the other girls gossiping on the sidewalk.

No, girls who voluntarily drop are not included in the "not matched" group. Those are the girls who sign a pref card and get no bid. About 150 girls are disqualified by grades. The other 600-700 who registered but don't participate in bid matching are a mixture of girls who either are cut from all houses or drop out because they don't like the houses they get back. There is no way to tell the exact number of girls who are cut from ALL houses, but they tend to be girls who cut a lot of "lower" chapters after 22 party and then get dropped by the "top tier" houses after 16 and 9 party.
Also what @honestly said about tridelt taking less than 50 is no longer correct as every chapter is required to take 50 now. But don't get your hopes up because 50x22 is 1100 and only 2 chapters gave less than 50 bids last year... So it's basically gonna be the same.

Tri Delt was encouraged to take 50 girls last year as well and chose not to. So what makes anyone think they will comply this year unless Panhel actually actions them??

Panhel did actually make a law this year that all sororities agreed to comply to.

So WHEN is IU Greek system going to get with the rest of the country!! These % and or totals of PNM Higher # per Pledge Class. Seems to me, that other schools have made a success of PNM totals. Who wants to leave in house for more then a year anyways!
