sorority comments

I have many friends who went into rush having favorites and their favorites remained the same. In fact, five of my friends ended up in the houses they wanted before they even rushed. So the person below who thinks she has all the answers clearly doesn't. Everyone begins the journey from different vantage points. Some have connections, some don't. Some find it difficult because they have to choose. Some people go through rush seeing so many positives, they find it hard to cut houses. Others go through unable to find one that fits and vice versa.

All houses do not take sophomores. It depends on the numbers that year. Some years houses will accept a few and other years they can't take any. It is more competitive to rush as a sophomore but there are sophomores who do as well as successful freshman. There are sophomores who don't do very well, too. Recruitment is competitive, much like it will be when applying for a job. There are always going to be more applicants than positions available. This is an opportunity to practice poise, utilize networking skills, being prepared and applying your knowledge of the social rules that exist in society. I highly recommend it.

There is nothing more pathetic than an insecure girl who makes it her job to degrade houses at IU. I have been reading with interest over the past several months and have concluded it is someone from the Kappa house who has been doing this. I think she has been giving her house ones to make it appear like her house is important enough for conversation. She not only drags houses down that are near in the ranking, she also insults the more popular houses out of sheer jealousy. This is very discouraging for those of us contemplating recruitment.
