rushing with a 3.0

by:

I have a 3.0 and I want to be in a sorority sooo bad but I'm so worried that houses will drop me because of my gpa. I know I meet the gpa minimum for all the houses, but is there any chance I won't get a bid because of this? Please answer truthfully I'm beyond scared about it :( and really don't want to wait until next year to rush.

No it isn't. Without going into secret details, GPA can come into the equation even if you meet the house's minimum. Also, not all houses will necessarily have a 3.0 minimum. Some may be higher. You simply won't know.

That being said, you can meet the minimum GPA and still get dropped for all kinds of reasons (and sometimes no real reason at all except that we wanted other PNMs more than you for whatever reason.) So GPA is only one factor.

Your GPA is what it is. There isn't anything you can do about it at this point so stop focusing on it and work on the things you can do something about like the way you present yourself.

Am I correct in assuming most houses want diversity in their girls? So they won't only pick girls that are just smart even if they're known for being a smart house.

Grades are really important, but more so for some houses rather than others. "Diversity" does not include the desire for girls who can't achieve a decent GPA. That's ridiculous."We need more lazy and dumb girls. Ashley seemed nice. Let's invite her back," said no house ever.

PNMs, you have to stop assuming things about the way we do things, especially about GPAs because you're going to be wrong. You'll understand if you're lucky enough to get a bid and be a member to experience it next year.

Concentrate on the things that you can work on now and stop focusing on the things you can't change. The time to worry about your GPA was last semester. Nothing will change that.
