Rush experience doesn't match the ranks
by: confusedI don't know what to do. I only got 5 houses back for sisterhood. One is a top house and the other four are bottom houses. I had the top house and one bottom house today and I didn't like the top house at all. I know it's the best option. But I already like the second house that's supposedly a low house that I saw today better. Should I still try to hold out for that top house even if I don't like it as much right now?

All the chapters go to frats, have date parties/formals, and events. The girls you meet and connect with the best should be where you go. Unless partying at the top frats is all you care about, which is something you should rlly reflect abt if it is the case, the houses with a genuine connection should be obvious choice to keep

Truth from a senior, every year I have heard a girl or two say that they regret joining a top house when they actually really liked a lower one better. But I have NEVER heard any girl say they regret joining their bottom house instead of a higher option they had.
Rush really is the time to trust your gut.

go with where you feel most connected. realistically as a girl you can get in anywhere you want. as someone in a lower mid house I have been to EVERY frat at least once and consistently go to frats I don’t “pair” with. that’s all the ranking is which frats you go to… not which house has the nicest/best girls. go with your gut you’ll thank yourself

Here’s a thought: Why not consider letting go of the “top” “middle” and “bottom” house idea? Is everyone here so desperate to be in what they consider a “top” house that they’d rather be miserable than be with people you actually seem to vibe with? My friends and I are in houses that are in all these so-called levels. Guess what? No one cares when you’re a decent person. And guess what else? When you leave IU nobody cares which letters you wore. Why not go where you feel most comfortable? Do you think you’re a “bottom level” person? Probably not. And most likely you aren’t. And the house you like isn’t either. It’s these stupid ideas everyone is clinging to that perpetuates these shallow ideas.

It was actually phi mu they felt more genuine and real compared to the top house and I actually cried during one of my conversations it was so good.
