sorority stereotypes

by: justwonderin

Just wondering if there are sororities at IU that are traditionally girls from Indiana/Midwest versus those from East or West Coast? I'm also confused about some of the nicknames- can someone give me the rundown of the "official" name of the sorority versus nickname?

from what I’ve seen there’s not really any specific houses that are from a specific region. There’s always gonna be kinda a preference for girls that know each other, so Midwest ties just kinda come from that. Official names are the full Greek names so example Alpha Chi Omega is gonna be AXO (X is the letter for Chi in the Greek alphabet). As you go along you’ll understand the names better:)

Just trust the recruitment process and you'll land where you'll fit and feel at home. Don't base your decision off stereotypes.

We're in the midwest... they all have a midwest vibe.
Zeta and AXO aren't just from Indiana, they're all from Indy.
DZ is mostly Indiana
ChiO, Kappa and Pi Phi are probably 60/40
APhi and Gphi have more oos students
