best time to rush a fraternity

by: tjk18

I am entering IU this fall and will be looking to get into the Kelly biz school my Sophomore year. As I want to focus on my academics fist semester, I will likely not rush until Spring. My question is whether this will put me at a disadvantage to those that Rush in the fall? Also, how hard/timing consuming is it to rush a fraternity?

Fall rush is better for the guys. Though some Frats have guys rush in Spring not less amount of guys.

It can be very hard/time consuming. Some of the chapters keep pledges at the house all night doing stupid stuff. If grades are important to you, take that into consideration when rushing. The houses that are stronger academically are probably a better fit. You don't want to be around a bunch of guys who are majoring in parties and just squeeze in class here and there.

Trust me, you want to be a Fall pledge. They get way more respect in their house. Most fraternities that have a tougher pledgeship will also have mandatory study hours or else their average new member gpa would be like 2.3.
