how does informal recruitment work?
by: Wannabe GreekHow does informal recruitment work? How do I find out what houses are doing informal? Do I need to be invited to informal recruitment or is it open to everyone? I really just wanna be in a sisterhood w dope girlies who love and support each other thanks

So I’m not sure about houses doing a closed informal there might be one or two but it would be kept on the DL and would be invite only for the first round as well. Houses doing open informal which is what you’re looking for would be dphie and asa and not quite sure about tpa or sk but they are other possibilities. Informal is normally set up like two rounds and then a bid night. For the first round of informal at any of these houses it’s pretty similar to formal rush except for less formal duh. You basically just show up to the house sit down have a convo w sisters who will be on rotation (a bump group) there’s usually drinks and snacks and possibly a house tour if you’re at a housed chapter. Second round you need an invite back for and could be a lot of different things it may just be longer conversations or a one on one casual meeting with a sister it depends on the chapter! This will take place around the beginning of September but there aren’t official dates out for it yet. I’d suggest following dphie or asa on twitter or insta for date announcements good luck finding you home!

Rush is going to be insanely competitive this year. If you’re a sophomore consider informal. If you’re a junior don’t consider formal you’ll be dropped from every house except for maybe ASA if you’re lucky. All houses are great to join but your options are likely to be the same whether you do formal or informal just some food for thought for sophomore and junior geeds

If you’re going to be doing informal rush at a HOUSED chapter in the fall (dphie or tpa) as a JUNIOR you should make sure the chapter knows you’re ready and willing to live in the house as a senior!! This will increase your chances of a bid exponentially. Being a junior decreases your chances of a bid and having no interest in living in the house might give you a guaranteed no bid whether you’re a sophomore or a junior. If you’re not at all wanting to live in a house ever I suggest checking out asa or SK if they do informal. SK is currently housed but won’t be next year and asa is permanently unhoused. I’m not 100% sure who all will be doing informal but these four are the most likely options
