are unhoused frats worth it?
by: ????I'm going to be a freshman this fall and my older cousin is in one of the unhoused frats here and I was just wondering if I should rush. He seems to really like it there and the guys I met when I visited seemed cool but I don't know how much I'd be missing out on if anything by rushing an unhoused frat.

There are a few that aren’t worth it.... if you’re going to go unhoused at least join one that actually pairs with our sororities. If you don’t mind not living in and you like the guys you might as well show up for rush for a pretty much guaranteed bid. You should check out other houses too though. Join where you think you’d fit in best

I have many friends in unhoused who have had great friendships and bonds. At the end of they day it's about the guys in the frat and the brotherhood. Either you make connections with the guys or you don't. It doesn't matter housed or unhoused. I've also had friends in houses who don't have a great experience bc they don't like a lot of the guys.

Up to wgat you want out of Greek life. Living in is very different than being in an unhoused. Not in a bad or good way, just very different. Try a ton of houses and see what you like. Also, don’t believe any brother in an unhoused frat that tries to say they’re getting a house. Some may be getting TKE or SK but half the time they’re lying, and there won’t be any newly built houses on campus

really only a few worth checking out. Personality wise sammy is a lot different from the rest but i'd say its really just pike, skulls, maybe pilam that are worth it. Pike and skulls are a bit better set up for the future with housing options (not on-campus) dope brotherhood and pretty decent parties most of the time. Diverse crowds youll find dope ass guys who are fun to be around as well as ones who are more down to earth.

Phi Psi is the only unhoused with guaranteed housing for next school year as they will be taking their house back from SK. There’s one other empty house that will likely be taken before long but yes I would agree that unless something changes between now and rush to not trust any other houses that say they’re going housed. Pike definitely has the $$$ to build but IU isn’t allowing that for a while. Any others are either permanently in houses or competitors for the one house left empty.
