Well yes but a new list of houses is in some sort of trouble literally every semester and sororities almost never get kicked off so you’d have to do several really terrible things for your house to face bad consequences. The only house on this list that is even somewhat in danger of that is zeta and it seems more likely that they’ll just be on a strict probation because they didn’t get kicked out after a much more serious offense a few years ago and that situation will be entirely sorted out by rush (they’ll either be gone and not an option or their new pc will be well aware of whatever restrictions have been administered to them). We should try to avoid misleading posts that will confuse pnms who are super excited to be here in the fall and patrolling this website like hawks

PNM's deserve to know what the deal is with houses, and all the OP said is that they are in trouble - which they are. Theta also could be in real trouble since they just recently got off probation and are on it again.

PNMs don’t know what “trouble” entails. If you’re going to make a post saying what houses are in “trouble” you should at least add what trouble means or why they are in trouble. If you don’t know what trouble or restrictions a house is facing or why then why make a post about it other than to make your house look good. Also theta is a historic chapter with great academics and involvement so I really don’t see their nationals taking serious action against them. Frats get kicked off all the time but sororities dont

Theta national did put them on social probation spring of 2017 and fall of 2018. They got off probation right before formal recruitment in this past year. They weren't in "trouble" with IU, their national just wasn't happy with some things going on and decided to limit the number of social events they could have during that time. They were allowed to have a date parties, dances, etc. They were only allowed a small number of official parties those two semesters. Their national is more strict that IU, so that's why it really wasn't common knowledge. However, to give Theta some credit, they did own up to it if asked.

DZ has been in trouble with their national for almost two years now. It all started formal recruitment 2017. Right after they had two pledges who had to be transported. They just got some breathing room and then screwed up again this Little 5. I am going to assume their national will have them on lock down like most of spring 2017 and fall 2018.

ZTA could be officially gone or worse, under such strict sanctions from their national that everyone under 21 drops. There is no way their national will let them have any parties in the fall, therefore they will have to be on lists. So if they have to be on a list what's the point of being Greek?

And yes, PNMs deserve to know what is going on. No one wants to pledge a house that can't have social functions or one that has their nationals breathing down their necks.

I don't even understand why zeta is here anymore. They've been in trouble so many times for so long, it's ridiculous

Pi Phi has been on probation over the past year. They didn't have any problems with recruitment despite that fact. Unless a chapter is skating on very thin ice, like maybe Zeta, it is not that big of a deal.

Here’s the thing, yes PNMs deserve the right to know about houses and probation, but majority of them will not even know what that even means. Even after being a pledge or initiated member, understanding probation is still very confusing except for those on exec because they’re the ones communicating directly with either IU or nationals.
Secondly, the most important thing is educating members. I know for my house and for many others (it not all) every new member was sat down and there was a discussion about parties and behavior, especially with the whole March 1st fiasco. You have to remember, a lot of these girls did not go to frats first semester bc they were either afraid of blacklist rumors or didn’t have connections so they don’t know what Greek parties are like. Even if they did go to frat parties they never went as a member of a sorority which is a very different experience, and there needs to be educations.
Most importantly even though it probably won’t stop, rumors need to be stopped. Around Little 5 there were countless rumors of every house being kicked off, which maybe people are drawn to the drama but we don’t want that. Another house being kicked off, especially a sorority, puts IU Greek life on the chopping block even more. Also, we shouldn’t be wanting to tear down other houses!! Even if you may have something against a house, there are actual people in there that love it and don’t want to leave campus and hate that their house is in trouble for one things one person did.

^^Then if they love their house and don't want it to leave, don't get black out drunk and have to be transported to IU Health. Don't go to parties and post everything on social media. Don't do stupid things and your house won't be in trouble. I do not buy the above state "hate that their house is in trouble for things one person did". Trust me it was not one DZ who was out of control. It was not one ZTA who knew parties were planned during Little 5 and not registered with their national. It may be a small group, 5-10, but if it was truly one person causing the issues, she could be removed from the chapter without much fuss.

#3 the March 1st shutdown was not a fiasco! It was a call for Greek life to educate. Especially in light of events happening across the country. For PNM's recruiting in 2019 it's going to become harder. House's will really scrutinize girls, No One house wants to be eliminated from IU!
