Most sophomores who go through rush will find that they are left with pretty much the exact same options as they had in the fall. The people who this isn't the case for have tons of friends in houses that pull for them and if you're asking on here I'll assume that's not you. If I were you I'd definitely check out all of the houses that do informal in the fall, a couple housed chapters will be doing it which is an incredibly rare opportunity to be able to join a housed chapter without going through the absolute nightmare that is IU's recruitment, and you should STRONGLY consider joining one of these chapters. Houses that will probably do it will be asa, tpa, and dphie check out these chapters on social media and see if you think there's anyone you can be friends with!

Honestly these responses are 100% from girls in houses who do fall informal who want more girls to go through it so they can get a “better” pc and rise in “ranks”. The only houses that do informal are DPhiE, ASA, TPA, and SK. These are all viewed as bottom tier houses right now. I know many sophomores who got into great houses, even top houses, who didn’t have friends in those houses during normal recruitment. If you don’t want to be in a bottom house, don’t bother with informal. Just being honest.

So keeping with the "just being honest" theme, let's recall the last few years and what chapters have done fall informal. Hmmm AGD, TPA, ASA, SK, DPhiE, and ZTA (kept that on the downlow in 2017). Why not take a bid from one of those chapters and not put yourself through the two week dog and pony show that recruitment has become.

I know a handful of sophomores who joined middle or top houses but I know literally dozens who joined bottom houses yes some people get lucky but they are the exception not the rule

The houses that do informal in the fall may be considered "bottom," but if you were in greek life, you'd understand the tier system is completely irrelevant. At this point, its history, not a direct reflection of members of the chapters. If you want to claim to rank the chapters, you need to know multiple people in every house pretty well? Do you? Because to me it seems like you're just a bitter girl who went through recruitment and didn't get the house she wanted. Every house has sisterhood is a mixed bag with some standouts in looks and personality and some girls who don't standout. It's just how it is. The problem with greek life here is that people who aren't in it value the tier system so much that they convince the freshman to think every girl in a bottom house is a hag.

everyone above is pretty accurate but it honestly depends on what you're personally looking for. Check out informal and if you don't mesh well do formal. The chapters mentioned will generally post on their social media's about dates and times and it may even get put on this sight. If you have friends in chapters here have them look out or even reach out for you.

I agree. Only a few chapters do informal in the fall but you should go for it and if you click with one of them it will definitely be worth it
