cuts

by:

so just about every single house cut me by now and i really dont get it. Ive gone into recruitment very open-minded, and i wouldn't say I'm "not good enough" to be in a sorority. Ive been nice and had meaningful conversation at nearly every house, Ive dressed very well and received numerous compliments, i can afford to be in a sorority and my grades are alright, im also skinny and id think good looking, I dont post partying pictures on social media or do anything worse than anyone else is doing. what did i do that was so wrong???

You said almost cut. How many houses do you have left?

You said just about every house, which means you still have girls who can see you as their sister. This is good! You can only join one sorority, so at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you have one or nine right now.

Keep your head up and enjoy your parties. Don't forget to look around you - the other PNMs you see matter almost as much as the actives. These girls will be your PC, the people you're closest to, so even if you're not clicking yet with the sisters but you love the other girls you're rushing with, you're in a good place.

im saying all i have left is the same house every girl has, dphie, which i did not even get along with or felt like i fit in there. I was super uncomfortable and I would not go to this house, i was incredibly open minded but at this point clearly no sorority wants me and Im just asking what i could have done so wrong? if its 9 round and the bottom house of all 22 is the only one i have left, its very hard to stay positive. im not trying to insult anyone but i really dont get it

Here's a thought. If every girl you know has dphie left, join together and be the change you want to see.

I don't mean to sound harsh but complaining on GR won't get you anywhere. And there is nothing "wrong" with you. Rush is a hard proces for everyone involved.

Good luck with whstever you decide

Only you were there so nobody here can tell you if you did anything wrong. Sometimes you think you are doing everything right and others see it differently. Its fine to reflect back on your conversations but don't dwell on them because it will eat you up the longer you let it. You still have a house in play and should at least go visit. Perspectives can change when options are taken away. You still may feel the same way after the visit but at least you would have given yourself an opportunity.

Sometimes its the smallest thing that sets you apart from another. It could be someone else was equal with your qualities but had a sightly higher GPA. Could be the luck of the draw of who you talked to. Way to many possibilities. Probably wasn't just one thing.

It only takes one good pledge class to help lift a chapter up and get them moving in the right direction.

Every girl has these moments through recruitment but you must be thankful for the houses got back.. The house I got into wasn’t my first, second, or third pick. It was actually my last pick and I was in your shoes. Wondering what I did wrong and deciding if I should drop or not. But at the end it worked out and I met my best friends through my sorority. Point is story’s like this are not uncommon.

There are over 100 girls in sorority’s like DphiE. Some you’ll be best friends with, some you won’t. You with some people and others not so much. Doesn’t mean the house is bad, just means you haven’t found the right people within it that make it feel like home. Give it another try. Be as open minded as possible and at the end of the day you still feel the same then decide what you want to do. Might as well give it a good last chance.

I can guarantee you can find your people in any sorority that's the size of those at IU, even DPhiE. They even have a house for now. If you know so many others who still have them in play, then chances are some of them will end up there too on bid day. Keep an open mind, because they are now your only chance at Greek life. At least you have one house left in play. There were a lot of PNMs who didn't.
