You need to choose a sorority based on where you feel comfortable. It's a cliche, but you need to find your home. The stuff you read on this page doesn't matter. Tiers don't matter, no matter what people will say on this page. After college, no one cares about tiers. At the end of the day, parties/pairs are a small part of sorority life. It's about building friendships that will last your lifetime. It's about sisterhood that lasts even after college. Finding friends who will be in your wedding, who you will meet up with to go back to IU for homecoming or other alum events. You need to think about who you would want to hang out with on a regular basis. If you are choosing a house just because of the name or tier, you're missing the point. Every house has strengths and weaknesses. Every house has pretty girls and not so pretty girls. Focus on who you click with and where you could see you. Recruitment is an individual experience and you need to follow your heart not the crowd.

No!! Definitely not a bad thing at all! Go where YOU feel comfortable and at home. Not all girls belong in APhi and Pi Phi and not all girls belong in TPA. Dont listen to others opinions, find where you feel at home. And honestly, a lot of the girls rushing will realize after cuts that they won’t end up “top tier” either - a lot of freshman go in thinking they are top tier but they’re not. But go where you love, not what’s cool :) remember you’ll be living there! TPA is seen as “bottom tier” but if you’re happy there, that’s perfectly fine. I’m in a lower tier and I love it. No matter what tier u end up you’ll be happy.

TPA is low tier but there are a lot of great girls in their chapter. Don’t focus on tiers, it’s not important!

I tried to get into an Upper-Mid House my freshman year. I ended up just choosing a different Lower Tier sorority similar to TPA and not the Upper Mid house, but I am so glad I did. The house I was trying to rush because I thought I wanted to be in it turned out to be a house that I would have hated to be in! In fact, that small group of girls that were rushing me in that house were the "minority" of the personality and expectation of that house. I was so much happier that I followed my heart, trusted my gut about the personality of the whole house, and ended up where I did. I'm an alumni now and still keep in contact with all of my sorority sisters, hang out with the ones that are in the same town I'm in, and go visit others in other cities when I can. Please believe me when I say that tier matters now while you're going through this, but it won't in the future. Even with that "tier system" they talk about... I still went to tons of different parties of all tiers. I got to make lifelong memories with my sisters, and now look back on college as the best experience of my life! TPA is a great sorority, and what's even more of a perk to join them it that you get to live in a sorority house! They didn't have that when I was there. So embrace it! If you love them and they're your last house at the end of this, go with it! You will not regret it, I promise! <3

Not at all! Go where you feel comfortable, and once you get houses back after rankings you’ll basically be forced to go places where they think you’d fit in too. Trust the process and go with your gut. Remember these will be your sisters forever and the girls you live with!

If you were to join TPA, you could help make it the best house it can be. And you would help define what "best" means for your chapter.

Go where you feel comfortable. I wouldn't write off other chapters yet since you only meet a couple of girls the first day. Give it more time and it TPA is your favorite house so not let anyone dissuade you.
