after greek life
by: Truth
This is my first time checking the site after graduating in May. I'll be honest, I checked GL a lot while at IU because it was a good gauge of what people perceived about me and the chapter I was a part of.
However, once you cross the stage in May (or December) this site becomes meaningless. It's all about perspective, something I just learned a couple of months after graduating.
You may stress, get angry, or feel annoyed at some of the comments on here. I know I did. However, there will be a point after IU where everything on here doesn't hold any weight. I know people from
"top" houses who cant find jobs, and I know people from "bottom tier" houses who are fully employed and killing it in their profession.
After you graduate no one is going to ask you: "Oh, why did you join such a low tiered organization in college." Also, no one will tell you "Wow, you must be really cool because you were in the top house at IU." Frankly, in many professions its taboo to talk about greek life but that's a different conversation.
What people will ask you is: what accomplishments did you have in college, and what have you done after college to advance yourself professionally. The only three greek-related accomplishments that matter after college is being a President, Vice President, of Treasury.
Chair of Apparel is meaningless.
