We had a transfer last year and she affiliated. We had to get to know her, check her grades/history at her previous chapter, and voted on whether or not to let her affiliate. It's up to the chapter here as to whether they let you join and every sorority has a different protocol, so check with your headquarters first.

I'm so sorry Transfergirl that's really disrespectful of your sosoriry. Honestly, I think thats BS and shouldn't have happened. From what I know, each national organization has their own rules but you shouldn't be rejected because you came from another school."

I transferred and joined the same fraternity from my old school. I got to know some of the guys, and I became an active. But I think each chapter an national organization has their own protocol. I don't think my fraternity at IU checked with my old school, or checked my grades.

Case and point, there should be a standardized process for transferring colleges but remaining in the same greek organization.

Yes, I was initiated. They literally told me to meet them at a public place and then they sat me down and said unfortunately you will not be an affiliated member of our chapter, any questions.
