are grades really important for sorority recruitme
by: GradsWill I get cut from a top tier sorority for having a lower gpa? I know you obviously have to keep it above a certain number but would they take someone over me because of my gpa?

all of the houses that are considered top fell in the bottom half of the fall grade report (chi o: 14, phi: 20, pi phi: 21). in my opinion, I don't think they really care about your gpa as much as other houses might. one of my close friends is in a top house and I remember her gpa barely passing the requirement (2.8). there are certain houses aim to get girls with higher gpas and will cut girls who are closer to the requirement. but it's important to keep in mind that there are a lot of other things that factor into the decision to cut you or invite you back. if a house truly feels that you will fit in well there, they will keep you around even if your gpa is low. either way, I agree with @rushedlastwinter. don't go into rush with a preconceived notion of what house you want because there is a chance you might not ever get invited back after the first round. good luck!

I amend my comment after reading the reply by "It depends". I agree with her. Some chapters may not care about grades. I know that my chapter does for sure. We want our members to focus on grades because that is why we are here. Then, after studying, we go and have FUN!
