sigma k house

by: Chachoo

So how is Sigma K gonna build a house? Like where would they build it, and isn't IU not allowing any greek organizations to build on campus for a long time? Not bashing SK at all, just curious for the specifics.

IU is not selling land to any greek organization at the moment. Therefore, they will not be building a house in the foreseeable future.

There is a deal in the works. The housing people from SK were working on two deals at once: the temporary deal for the Phi Psi house and the longer term build. Don't worry about SK, they will be just fine.

Let's make sure SK is properly bashed on here like everyone did to TPA. They are squatters for the foreseeable future. They will be unhoused and irrelevant soon, so let's not be quick to move them up from being a bottom tier house. They will not be able to build anytime soon. Their hopes rely on the only constant in IUs greek community, the failure of a housed frat.

Smoking crack-what is your problem. Until you know facts-which clearly you don't-shut up. Have you been in the zoning meetings. Are you part of the executive team at of property development at IU and the starte of Indiana? Didn't think so.

Tau chapter of SK at IU has done and will continue to do just fine as long as the sisterhood aspect of their sorority life remains manifest. Housing is only one aspect of their existence. SK was at IU from 1918 until 1994, a good history indeed. SK may have taken the opportunity to recolonize at IU due to wisely saved housing funds (bequeathed from now-deceased Tau alums?) in anticipation of said recolonization. Don't throw SK or any other newer IU sorority under the "unhoused equals bad house equals lower tier" banner without recalling the intelligent women who have joined and are joining ALL the IU sorority groups, and how they ALL work together for the betterment of your campus community.

Nationals has a contract with IU. They already signed a contract to start building, and will have a house before the lease ends in 2019. I don't know why people keep saying IU isn't setting aside land for new houses, if you can provide some kind of evidence of this maybe it would be more relevant.

They've already signed a contract with IU. That was part of their agreement to come back here. Unlike TPA, they aren't squatters, they actually have a plan in place and the financial backing to do it. So STFU TPA.

Posers you cant even keep your stories straight between all the BS threads you have going to make you look more relevant.

You are squatters and bottom tier! It's no wonder why we open up our parties with you before midnight. You are all a bunch of self absorbed, not as privledged as you think posers...

you think IU gives a flying F@$K if SK "came back here." Lol, no. They weren't like, "crap we need Sigma Kappa here and the only way that's going to happen is if we give them land. I guess there's no other option."

LOL NO. Our dean literally denounces Greek life any chance he gets. So no SK is not getting special treatment from IU.

Actually IU DID SAY in a BIG WAY they needed SK, and ASA and DPE and TPA. It's more than likely true that if there were three more interested NPC sororities desiring to come to IU pnms would be very glad to join them. If you haven't read these IU threads there have been more women desiring to join IU sororities for many years than there were true available places, due to factors which have been modified in pnms favor since 2010 and are still being modified to put more women into a house. IU simply does not have housing available, and the four sororities mentioned here by me knew that when they signed-on and still opened chapters. With all the bashing of the alleged lower tier, non-housed groups occurring here and on campus, maybe IU was right to stop bringing new sororities onto campus.

It isn't IU administration. It's IU panhel and other greek entities that encourage other chapters to come

Panhel has to vote to invite but doesn't IU itself have a say whether panhel can open for expansion? Down south there is a campus that dearly needs more sororities, and the campus admin just will not agree with panhel so there has been no expansion.

They won't have a house by the time the move out though. IU is not letting anyone build for at least 2-5 years. If you want proof, talk to panhel and every other Greek council at IU. They are being audited which is a know fact.

You are all fools. Unless you have graduated college-serve on a zoning board affiliated with IU, the State of Indiana or the executive board of Nationals, be quiet. Anything you are saying is just pathetic. Obviously-you are jealous, don't want sk to succeed or are just a miserable person. Get a life and move on. No one on this site has credible information. Peace out.

Actually, no matter what people say on here. It is a fact that IU is not offering ANY land to ANY Greek organizations. Sigma Kappa is not getting any special treatment. And other fraternities have been waiting in line for a land grab for YEARS. So if land does become available, SK may not get priority. If you haven't noticed, IU is really expanding EVERYWHERE. There priority right now is building enough classrooms for the growing class size. Like damn, theres not even enough space in most dorms right now for the freshmen, so any available developable land is going to go to IU's interests. Have you not noticed that 3rd street was once ALL sororities and fraternities, but then IU expanded.

At least one IU sorority lost their house several decades ago due to a land grab by IU and they had to wait several years to rebuild.

Why is SK and TPA fighting with each other?

They are both bottom tier?

By: @everyone
by: please Feb 22, 2017 4:33:06 PM

Well because they both aren't bottom tier. As much as the GR universe hates to admit it, SK is doing well. Just look at their pledge class in comparison to TPA. First SK make quota, TPA did not. TPA has been doing informal rush and has around 70 members in their pledge class, which is good for them because they need money for the house. But look at the quality of those 70, no where near the quality of the SK PC. Deny it all you want, SK got a facey pledge class, TPA did not. SK gets pairs with housed fraternities. TPA does not. Face facts. SK is in the middle group now (near the bottom if it, but its there), TPA is still the second worst chapter on campus, even with a house.
