To rerush and have a better outcome do you basically have to lose ten points and get prettier over summer and be in an iudm committee or is just trying again and being less nervous enough

If you're rushing again, be prepared for heavy cuts. It's unfortunate but it happens, as there can be a "once cut, always cut" approach. No, you don't need to lose 10 pounds and get prettier - that's just stupid. Most importantly, be yourself! Try and get super involved with on campus activities, get good grades, and get to know sorority members over the spring and next fall. Take a chance and see what happens! It may surprise you

It's definitely an uphill battle. Grades are the most important. If you dont have "good" grades (+3.5) by the time you're halfway through sophomore year it will be very hard to join a housed sorority. Try to learn confidence building skills over the summer. Be yourself, try to keep yourself in good physical shape if you can. Get to know people in sororities, especially those on executive boards. Get involved with IUDM or another organization on campus.

I rushed as a sophomore with a GPA just above 3.0 I found it was easier the second time around and had almost a perfect rush. It happens. But dont wait until then to make the best of your IU experience.

I hope by 'have a better outcome' you do not mean receiving only invitations to the top tier houses. Not necessarily gonna happen. Your energy, enthusiasm, skill set, and grades may set you up for invitations to the same groups that wanted you last time.

Take to your computer and google 'building confidence' and 'why am I so nervous' to glean insights that may be helpful to your goal of making a good impression. Take time to practice conversation skills with a friend, family member, or even a family pet (pets won't talk back, but it gives you speaking practice!). Perhaps Dale Carnegie classes or a Toastmasters Club visit is in order for you--our town offers Toastmasters meetings at the library.

If you feel the need to be prettier, why not? Makeup counters at the mall abound, make an appointment and see what can be done to create A New You.

Go to the website thesororitylife.com for general recruitment tips and information. Refer often to IU greek life websites for current recruitment information, too.

Just remember what's going on inside of your brain influences you and affects others as much as what's showing on your face and what you wear :)
