No it is not true.
Recruitment isn't over. And these chapters will most likely NOT be hosting informal.
IF they were to host informal, they wouldn't advertise it and they would already have girls that they want selected. Sorry, that's how it works.
I suggest you look at what you have left, and, if you don't have anything left, look at chapters who will be advertising when they will have informal recruitment (DPhiE and ASA most likely). These chapters are great, and by ruling them out you simply because they don't have a house are CHOOSING not to go Greek and I honestly have no sympathy for people like that.

ASA usually does informal in the Fall. I don't think that @omfg necessarily meant that they would be doing it right after recruitment.
Unless you mean that they won't be doing it next Fall, which would be a change from the past few years.

Considering that all the three unhoused chapters (TPA, ASA, and DPhiE) did do informal recruitment for Fall 2016, it would be news for me if that were to change for Fall 2017.

If AGD knows they need a certain number of girls to fill the house, then why would they set quota 55? This is why I don't get all of this talk about AGD having to do COB. Either the talk is wrong and their quota is higher than 55 or they don't need people to fill the house. I was under the impression that the renovations are to the outside of the house and the common areas. I have never heard that adding more beds was happening. This wouldn't be very smart at a time when more women want to live out.
I highly doubt AGD is doing informal. However, ZTA might be. They need quite a few girls. However, if you have already been dropped from ZTA don't plan on them calling you for COB. Those calls will go to upperclassmen friends of girls already in the chapter and girls they invited back to pref who went elsewhere and didn't match.

My best friend is in agd. They're doing COB, so stop with the rumors. Also their renovations are adding onto the cold dorms for more women to live in. They need 30 more girls after formal, so if you've dropped or didn't go through recruitment and know an agd, you should contact them about informal.

What you are saying makes no sense. If AGD knew that they needed more girls, they would just increase their own personal quota.
I agree with @maybe... that it costs more to have COB...AND I would like to add that having COB isn't great for publicity for the house. If a chapter can avoid having COB, they will do their best to avoid having COB. So if AGD knew that they needed more girls, they would just take more girls during formal recruitment, since IU quotas are essentially set by the individual chapters.

AGD is doing informal. They do have a new addition to the house and an addition to cold dorms, have you seen the floor plans?
I don't know why you would be lying about a sorority doing informal. There's absolutely no reason or incentive to.
Also, it's not a minimum of 55 girls. Panhellenic set a maximum of 55 girls that each house can take.

PANHELLENIC SET A MINIMUM QUOTA OF 55 FOR FORMAL RECRUITMENT.
Period. End of story.
Everyone HAS to take at least 55 during formal. Some will take considerably more, but each sorority makes that decision based on their needs, housing situation etc. There would be no reason to wait and hold X number of openings until after formal is over. We all set our own quotas, so if AGD really needed that many more, they would set their quota at that number.

you are 100% troll and obviously don't go here. 55 is the minimum. that's why certain houses who historically took low numbers to feel exclusive are all butthurt. minimum pc= 55 maximum pc = 55 + whatever the sorority decides in advance. everyone seems to know this but you.
also, unlike years past, all pnms who attend at least one preference party and list all the parties they attended are guaranteed a bid. it may not be your first or second choice, but no more bidless on bid day if you follow all the rules.

You are partially correct. With RFM, if you list all of your chapters after pref you were guaranteed placement for the last 5 years.It might not be your first choice, but you will get a bid. At IU, last year 54 PNMs didn't list all of their chapters. That's why girls went bidless. They don't list every chapter because they know that if they are going back to DPhiE and put them on your list you will end up there. Girls don't want to end up in DPhiE, so they don't list it.

Yes, if you drop out after sisterhood and don't go to pref you could go through informal IF THERE IS INFORMAL (99.9% most likely there will not be other than DPhiE).
If the sorority cut you during recruitment, OF COURSE IT WILL MATTER. If they cut you, they probably had their reasons and they are not going to forget that.
It is a dumb idea to quit recruitment in the vague hope that you're going to get into a sorority that cut you through informal. It's not going to happen.

Yes it matters. If a chapter cut you, they will not invite you to informal! Do not think you're going to get a bid through informal if you drop out of recruitment. Last year only one chapter did informal DPhiE, so you won't be helping your cause.

why would a chapter even think about giving you a bid if they cut you during formal recruitment? there is a reason you were cut...and the chapter isn't going to forget that.
so if you quit now you are basically signing up to be a gdi. which is okay for some people...but you need to understand that reality to see what you are actually getting yourself into.
i can guarantee you you won't get a bid from agd if they cut you during recruitment. if they wanted you, they wouldn't have cut you.

Ok so you guys are 100% wrong about this. if each chapter can only take 55 girls (which it could be any number at this point it just depends on how many pnms go through pref) that is all they can take because it is quota and the reason for the same set quota for all chapters is to make the total number of girls in each chapter the same. lets say the number of total girls in each chapter can be 200, if a chapter makes quota and takes 55 girls, and reaches 200 total members, then they can't take anymore than that UNLESS they are quota additions or later through COB or otherwise known as informal. And quota additions aren't like super common, like sure maybe you'll have a couple, but no more than 5 and even that is a bit excessive and rare. which means chapters like zeta and agd that need like at least 20 more girls, will obviously make quota, but will still need that other 20 or whatever and cannot take them through formal recruitment unless they are quota additions, but like I said earlier, there is absolutely no way anyone will ever get remotely close to that number. usually it is maybe 1-3 quota additions. therefore, agd and zeta basically automatically have to do informal recruitment. or zeta will probably do what they did all first semester and invite random friends over and just give them a bid
