informal spring rush/ snap bids

very little of this is decided. Sororities need to see what their pledge classes are like before they even think about doing informal.
And snap bids and informal rush are 2 totally different things. A snap bid is a bid extended to a girl who removed herself from the rush process at any point in time if after the bid matching process a chapter has not made quota.However, if a chapter cut you at any point, they more than likely will not extend you a snap bid. So do not count on a snap bid from your fav chapter if they already cut you.

Agd is only allowed to take 55 pnms through formal and they need like 80 so they're going to do informal to get the rest

AGD (or any other chapter for that matter) is not ONLY allow to take 55. Even if a chapter set their quota at 55, they can take over 55, it's a process called quota addition. If there are girls who would not match after bid matching and they maximized their options, they could be placed in one of their three chapters. The reason this does not happen often at IU is because the PNM does NOT maximize her options. She only lists two of her three chapters or only one chapter. If a PNM does this, she cannot be placed as a quota addition. Last year a couple of chapters had QAs, in the past some chapters have had as many as 10.
Also, if AGD knows they need a certain number of girls to fill the house, then why would they set quota 55? This is why I don't get all of this talk about AGD having to do COB. Either the talk is wrong and their quota is higher than 55 or they don't need people to fill the house. I was under the impression that the renovations are to the outside of the house and the common areas. I have never heard that adding more beds was happening. This wouldn't be very smart at a time when more women want to live out.

Quota is a MINIMUM, not a maximum. Any house can take as many girls above the 55 number that they would like. No one can say yet who (if anyone) will do informal rush as formal rush is not over.

I got cut from AGD before sisterhood. One of my top picks. Was disappointed not to get an invite back. Anyway, if AGD does do informal, would it matter that I was cut early on? I'd like to give it a shot.

Of course it will matter if the chapter cut you. If they cut you that means that they were interested more in other girls than they were in you. I would not count on getting a bid from AGD, sorry.

I can guarantee you that there are reasons girls are cut and that we actually remember these reasons if they try to go through again
not to mention that informal recruitment for unhoused chapters is so hush hush that we don't advertise it and fill the few spots that we have with friends of chapter members who are upperclassmen

I'm really sorry that you got cut from a chapter you really liked and thought you connected with.
But I urge you to give the chapters who are inviting you back and see something in you and want to give you a chance to be their sister...a shot.
Unfortunately when a chapter cuts you they don't forget what was said and why you were cut. You don't get to start over. And they are not likely to invite you to informal recruitment (which likely won't happen for AGD...idk why people who clearly don't go here are spreading false rumors) let alone give you a bid. I'm sorry but that's the truth of the situation.
So pick yourself up and do what you can right now--appreciate that you haven't been completely cut from recruitment and that there are girls who see the good in you and your potential as a sister. Focus on those girls and that chapter and please please please give them a chance to show you what their sisterhood is made of. Recruitment is honestly very fake and not a good representation of what sorority life is actually like.

Ok so you guys are 100% wrong about this. if each chapter can only take 55 girls (which it could be any number at this point it just depends on how many pnms go through pref) that is all they can take because it is quota and the reason for the same set quota for all chapters is to make the total number of girls in each chapter the same. lets say the number of total girls in each chapter can be 200, if a chapter makes quota and takes 55 girls, and reaches 200 total members, then they can't take anymore than that UNLESS they are quota additions or later through COB or otherwise known as informal. And quota additions aren't like super common, like sure maybe you'll have a couple, but no more than 5 and even that is a bit excessive and rare. which means chapters like zeta and agd that need like at least 20 more girls, will obviously make quota, but will still need that other 20 or whatever and cannot take them through formal recruitment unless they are quota additions, but like I said earlier, there is absolutely no way anyone will ever get remotely close to that number. usually it is maybe 1-3 quota additions. therefore, agd and zeta basically automatically have to do informal recruitment. or zeta will probably do what they did all first semester and invite random friends over and just give them a bid

Do you even go here? Quota additions are common and there is no maximum number of sisters. IU has encouraged sororities to take more not less.

Literally ask an actual panhel person or your rho gam because they will tell you exactly what I just said. But I also don't know how much the rho gams have been instructed not to tell PNMs. If any of your chapter advisors or anything are around this weekend, ask them and they can explain it to you too. Also I know a lot of chapters chose not to tell their girls what I told you because they knew it would freak their girls out because they can't take all of the PNMs they want

Also most people who are snap bid are called before bid day, so no one in your pledge class knows you were snap bid. They assume you were at a different pref party than they were.
