how does rush work?

by: yeet

I'm in a sorority at another midwestern school and have heard a lot about Indiana recruitment. It's supposed to be pretty different than most schools, and I've been trying to figure out how it works out of curiosity. I've read that bid day is at night, recruitment lasts over a 2 week period (??) and can someone explain how your rounds work? Just curious lol

IU is split up into districts. Each year, every district is forced to randomly choose PNM tributes to fight in the annual Recruitment Games. A fight to the death.

Rush lasts two weeks because we have so many chapters. We have 23 total, 4 of which are unhoused. We do open invite over the course of three days (Wednesday night, all day Thursday and Friday this year) and then Philanthropy round or 16 party Saturday and Sunday. The next weekend is Sisterhood round or 9 party, which is Friday night and Saturday all day, then preference on Sunday. We always fall on MLK day, so we wait one extra day and Bid night is that Tuesday night. Rush is tough in general here because these chapters typically take 50 women each out of almost 2,000 PNM's that go through. It is changing though and in the next few years will be more "normal" with more women getting bids.
