sophomore rush

by: 2019

haha so i've heard several things about it being easier/harder for certain houses when you rush as a sophomore... whats the real scoop? I like to think im pretty outgoing/ personable so in that sense I will be fine, only reason I am rerushing is because I suicide bidded (freshman don't do it not worth it btw)

I rushed a sophomore and it's a little of both. I think it's easier in some respects because you have a good idea where you fit in and where you don't. You aren't snowed by the show the chapters put on as much as the freshmen are. I remember being outside one chapter and the PNMs talking about how this chapter had great sisterhood and they all loved each other when it was quite the opposite, I had friends from my dorm floor the year before pledge there and one dropped over the summer the other stuck it out for another year then dropped. You are also a year older and tend to make better decisions as a far as ranking chapters in the early rounds. The down side is that you often get released from chapters, solely because you are a sophomore and last year's freshman pledge class was huge or the chapter is only going to take a set number of sophomores and there are legacies and friends of friends to fill those spots.

Expect some big cuts early, but the chapters who invite you back are interested in taking sophomores. Good luck! Try to keep it all in perspective and keep your head in the game.
