dissapointed in the greek life at msu
by: A REAL personthe fact that a majority of the girls have dropped or considered dropping this week just goes to show how messed up the selection process is at MSU and how fake most of the sororities really are.

too many girls go through rush. Not enough sororities and the pledges classes aren't big enough.
That is why is it so competitive. I have ALWAYS wanted to be in a sorority but the only one I got back was one I had 0 connection with. I just wasn't good enough for the ones where I felt a connection :(

A record number of girls went through rush this year. The existing houses can only take a maximum of about 50 girls each. That means that about half of all the girls that went thru rush won't get a bid. I think it's clear that there should be more sorority houses at MSU.

Please don't be so hard on yourself! It truly is a superficial process.. A lot of girls that get in are wonderful, but a lot that get cut are just as wonderful.. It was very competitive.. I think we had something like 1300 girls for half the spots.. Things happen for a reason.. Keep your chin up and go do wonderful things!

Quota is set based on the number of girls going through rush after 3nd parties. MSU takes the number of girls still left and divide it by the number of houses. Certain houses can invite more girls back to preference than others because bid acceptance is lower. There are statisitical models being used.
There are A and B bid lists. If quota is 50, Chi-o would have 50 people on their A list and 20 on the their B list because based on history, most girls offered a bid from Chi-o, will take it. Other houses, may not have the same success so their are allowed to have 50 on A and 50 on B. It is not a perfect science but it seems to work out ok. Quota is based on the number of girls going through recruitment. MSU wants everyone to get a bid and join a house. Their goal is not to have sad girls.
