pledging

If Im unable to make a big time commitment during my pledgeship assuming I get a bid, which of the newer houses (i.e less hazing) would be best to rush - Alpha Sigs, Phi Delt, Beta, Sammy or Phi Tau?

Beta and alpha sig are the only ones with a house now. Not having a house is really a big set back as to what a frat can actually do

Phi Tau actually has a house now on Evergreen and Phi Delt doesn't get theirs till next fall

Definitely Beta. No hazing at all, solid guys, and nice house. Otherwise, maybe Alpha Sigs, but they aren't as relevant.

Rush all of them so you can meet the brothers and see where you would fit in best

Alpha sigs and phi tau are probably your best choices if you want the whole fraternity experience. They both have houses and socials with a good variety, beta only has socials with like 1-2 houses if that.

Beta is pretty solid but is a dry-house (no alcohol) which is too bad because they've come across as cool guys when I've met them. Phi Delt has kind of a geedy vibe and no house but they've got a good academic reputation nationally. Phi Tau has a house on evergreen near all of the bars and some really good guys but definitely a few weirdos too. Alpha Sigs has a house plus an annex and some great guys but you really wouldn't guess most of them are in greek life if you met them, which a lot of people really like and some don't. That said, they're also more likely to have a bit of a rougher pledging process due to the fact that they're probably the most established of the bunch. In rank form, I'd say Alpha Sigs, Phi Tau, Beta, Phi Delt.

Beta- Have a house on Bogue, dry house
Phi Tau- Have a house on Evergreen, not dry
Alpha Sigs- Have a house on Michigan Ave, not dry
Phi Delt- Does not have a house, dry

Phi Delt will have a sick house next year, but its far from the bars and campus. Beta has an annex house next door to Chi-O that they throw all their parties at, so the dry house thing isn't really a big deal for them. Alpha Sigs does not have a dry house, so they are good for raging, but at the same time their house is really dirty and I don't know if I would ever want to live there. I would rank Beta and Alpha Sigs above Phi Tau and Phi Delt.
