" > " means "greater than". I'd much rather be in a lower-tier house than a non-athlete GDI.

Keep in mind that a few of the bottom-tier ones literally just-started (even later than SAE in some cases) and that they still respect themselves enough to call it a fraternity, unlike the "business frats". I'd personally say GDI are in higher standing than Business and Minority "Frats".
