What makes a middle tier sorority? Is it bad to be in a mid tier one?

No. You'll get the full Greek experience. The main difference is that middle tier houses don't have an entire house full of dimes. There are pretty girls but the ratio isn't as high. All houses mix with top tier fraternities but tier 1 sororities more exclusively hang out with them. Just go through rush and see where you for in with the girls most, you want to make sure you will be happy as friends with these girls the next 4 years.
