Why does this have so many dislikes?? Its so true. You can’t deny. Like that person just said- girls above 150 are automatically sent to the middle tiers and anyone above 180 is typically sent to aopi. It’s so sad but so true

A conversation about diversity needs to start with understanding how many POC were even interested in being in one of these sororities.

@Facts where are they? Where is the demographic data analysis from Panhellenic? Did you find it on a website and is it a report the rest of us can access? What is the PERCENTAGE that rushed and dropped among POC and non POC. Unless you can provide specific data and sources for this info you have no business making generalizations about “these girls.” No one gets dropped from recruitment if they meet grade requirements. PNMs drop bc they think they are too good for the houses they have left.

@Nope PNMs also drop because they don’t feel a connection to any of the houses they have left, can’t afford it, or change their mind about recruitment, among several other reasons. YOU have no business making generalizations about other peoples’ decisions that you know nothing about.

What does any of what you’re saying have to with POC which is what this whole post is about. This thread is accusing sororities of not considering diversity during recruitment and not pledging enough POC yet we know nothing about how many even rushed and how many chose to drop on their own. We cannot make accusations without having the actual numbers in front of us.

@wrong you do realize that POC, and GIRLS THAT ARE NOT YOUR BASIC , THIN , and “in-style” type are discouraged from the start? Correct? Seeing only your cookie cutter sorority girl on their instas is very degrading before girls even decide to sign-up to look into rushing. If they truly cared about anything more than looks (which makes you wonder why the lowest tier sororities have the most diversity) they could do more than posting a Pinterest quote saying they love everyone lmfaoooooo. Zeta for example had that eerily-staged video posted by their president consisting of “rush tips” basically saying if you’re not thin, and in-style with an Instagram aesthetic to not even look their way. Lmfao y’all are too much

@Nope, I wonder why they would drop out of rush when they’re basically all cut from 75% of the houses or strung along to not make it too obvious. Oh and so you agree then that POCs are often only given bids to bottom tier sororities, great! If they aren’t too dark maybe they’ll get to be a token! It doesn’t take online data to be able to look at pledge classes and not see a single POC while simultaneously posting pics on Insta trying to paint a picture we all know just isn’t true. You seem very triggered so I’m guessing I struck a nerve. Say hi to the token in your sorority for me!!

Not sure how to take this comment. But agreed 300% poc are still gorgeous. Which is why it’s so sad that they still are blackballed because they don’t fit the normal stereotype. In order to rush and be accepted in GL here you have 3 hoops to go through: Be white, be thin, and be rich. Don’t fit any of those? Take yourself down to the bottom 4 sororities or stop completely.

Some people get triggered so easily. If you don’t like sororities that lack diversity then go join and promote one that doesn’t. These “basic” gorgeous tall blonde white girls in top houses are living rent free in your heads getting you all fired up. Meanwhile they don’t spend a second on this site or thinking about out.

Clearly this is not the right forum for this discussion. Half of the people commenting probably aren’t in Greek life. This is an anonymous site that people can say whatever they want while hiding behind a screen. If you want to invoke change Greek rank is not the place to do it.

Sororities are social clubs. They exist to attract similar people. There is a strength in having a squad of people who are like you. Sororities dress alike in rush because of this. The members are stewards of these clubs charged each year with recruiting people who they think will carry on. It is only natural for people to think that the ones who will continue to do it best are people who remind them of themselves.
Greek organizations are private clubs. They can choose the members they want. Rather than asking why the top sororities have less POC. Maybe we should be asking why do we feed into the narrative that they are the best? Best is subjective. If in your mind the best sororities should be diverse, then start using your voice to promote those organizations that are.
But while we are condemning the sororities for only wanting pretty blondes, are we going to condemn the Historically Black sororities for only wanting beautiful Black women? Why is that ok? Because not every aspect of life needs to have a perfect ratio based on race. It is ok for people to prefer to be friends with people they are most similar to.
The truth is there should be a place for everyone. But not every place needs to be for everybody. Why can’t the pretty blonde girls have a place they can belong? God knows they face their own discrimination too. Because while most of you are quick to accept the gorgeous tall blonde belongs in Alpha Phi, you do not think she belongs in the board room or the operating room.
The people who are on here railing about lack of diversity in top houses for the most part have deep resentment after being cut from them or are not part of the Greek system anyway.

Nice essay! Historically black sororities exist because black women were blatantly and explicitly discriminated against by Panhellenic sororities & continue to be behind the scenes. Nice try using that as an example though lol! You did a great job of defending segregation😀

Okay good stance on feminism but why exclude women of color from feminism?
Why make women of color feel less than because they are not white?
Panhel sororities offer opportunities that are unique and fun that many want to participate. Poc should get the choice to choose and join whatever they want. It is not fair to tell women of color what they should do and where they should join

I’ve never seen a girl above 150 in a top house. Sad but you can’t even argue. Does a phi or kappa post pictures of girls who are a little heavier? What about chio or axo??? I see the same skinny blondes across all the house that spent the entire summer boasting how accepting they were of everyone no matter what they looked like. Yikes
