girls who don’t get bids
by: WonderingWhy is it that some girls either end up with no bid at all or only to one house that they had no interest in. Don’t say it’s because of looks because I know plenty of gorgeous, sweet girls with great personalities who had this happen to them. Just trying to understand what is really looked for during rush.

Most girls who end up with no bid dropped because they didn’t like the houses they had left at some point in the process. Very rare for someone to get dropped entirely from recruitment unless they have a very bad reputation or very low gpa. The girls who only had one house left just may not rush well. A lot of girls go in with pre conceived notions of what house they want or fit into. If you show you are disinterested in a certain houses they aren’t going to invite you back in many cases.. Some girls may come off as awkward due to nerves etc... In the first rounds “ higher tiered” houses have to release at least 50 percent of the girls that go through. Many great girls get released at this point because the houses have to cut so many. Releasing a girl after a 15 minute conversation is harsh, but the pnms are doing the same thing deciding a house is not for them after a 15 minute conversation. Probably 95 percent of those that end up with no bid is because they chose to drop recruitment not the other way around. Is it a judgmental process? Absolutely! Is it fair? Probably not. Do the houses do the best they can? Absolutely!! Recruitment is the most stressful and exhausting time of the year. The houses work extremely hard to put on a great recruitment. Reality is that the pnms judge harsher than the houses. Many have decided what houses they are willing to join before recruitment even starts. Feel bad for those that truly were open and followed through with the process who ended up without a bid or with only one house at the end that they didn’t fit into. For those who dropped because they got dropped from the houses they felt were worth of them sorry not sorry.

The process goes both ways too. Why do so many girls drop out of recruitment when they have good houses that invited them back? Most likely because they were dropped from the “higher tiered houses” If all these gorgeous girls with great personalities were open to joining “ lower tiered” houses those houses would improve and recruit better in the future. Until that happens nothing will change. In order for houses to improve people have to be willing to give them a chance and if not the less desired houses will continue to struggle and a lot of pnms will continue to be disappointed.
