out of staters

why do they come here? Especially the ones from the east like NY/NJ, MA, CT etc. Wont it be hard for them to get into a top tier frat also?

There aren't that many out-of-staters here, very few East or West coasters. Don't confuse international with out-of-state. Chicago-area kids come here for darties after they get rejected from (or know they can't get into): Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan. For them it's between like Indiana, Iowa and MSU ... I assume they choose MSU due to sports, pretty campus, travel convenience?

If out-of-state tuition wasn't a thing, I'd personally choose IU or Miami-Ohio over MSU.

Oh and MSU out-of-state tuition is still a hell of a lot cheaper than any private college.
