What is the rule about legacies? People are freaking out that chi o dropped a legacy. I didn't think it was an automatic bid just because you were a legacy.

If you wanted your legacy status to matter you should have gone to an SEC school. Here in Michigan it means nothing unless your legacy is currently in the chapter, even then tons of little sisters have gotten dropped if the chapter hated her sister.

LMFAO. Girl Keep dreaming. Legacy status means NOTHING in the SEC, especially at schools like Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, etc. They can fill up 2 pledge classes with legacies. I know girls in those sororities down there, and they get dropped by their legacy house after the first day. If you people thing rush here is competitive, you should see how crazy it is down there. My friends went through hell trying to get bids to sororities in houses that were bottom houses.

If a legacy of house x attended preference, she will go to the top of house x's bid list. If the PNM as her first choice, they will take her. Not all PNM select houses in which they are legacies.

Each house has a different rule but most houses is that legacies are guaranteed to past a certain round, then it's fair game. Some houses that are big nationally have like 40+ legacies so it would be really hard to take them all.
Likewise, the strength of your legacy status plays a huge part. If your sister is in the house/just graduated that is more helpful versus your grandma being a legacy at a school in California. There is still no rule that legacies have to get a bid.

And frankly, our house drops most legacies because we feel forced to take them. It means nothing.

Unfortunately most girls don't realize the importance of alumni relations and the legacies of those alumni. The financial strength of your sorority is completely dependent on the support from your alumni. When legacies are cut, the associated alumni will stop donating and that affects the $$ available to pay for pretty houses!

I spoke with different girls and we were comparing preference parties. You can tell the houses that huge alumni support by how nice of preference parties they had. Also, alums host events for actives, so it is nice to have a big support group.

My mom volunteers at another school and says they want alums at recruitment and send a sign-up genius asking for help from 3-4 people every hour. It is the top house at that school at Cornell. Maybe MSU girls are as smart or more insecure.

Correction: not as smart or more insecure. You connections are everything. Only the dumb girls don't know this.

I get you feel that a legacy should get a bid, but what if that girl truly does not fit it? Should a pnm join their legacy house just because they are a legacy if they have a better connection elsewhere. I would imagine that some legacies drop their legacy house in favor of another. I don't see people being outraged by that. Can't have it both ways!

Well, kind of! I think it is up the to the girl rushing. Please explain what a good fit is? How do you determine that in 20 minutes? You are saying she is not skinny, bubbly or hot enough? Yep.\n\n\n\n\n
