dear actives,

Please don't make PNMs feel like they are going to get invited back and then cut them. I shouldn't have left the houses feeling so good, only to be cut first round. Don't say things that make it seem like you are gonna invite us back. If you know we aren't a good match, that's okay because you know your house better than we do. But we should leave feeling like "eh, i don't know how well that went" or something. We are all 18-19 years old and we still have a lot of figure out at MSU. A lot of girls on my floor and in my dorm are heartbroken today because of actives saying such hopeful things to them.
I understand over 1400 girls went through this year, I get it is competitive, I get that your house has its own way of recruiting girls, and you have to make hard cuts, but PLEASE DON'T make us feel like we are going to get invited back.

It is a fake process just like college admissions. You get tons of literature promoting the university and then you don't get in.
Girls in sororities during recruitment should be polite to a degree. If they are promising a bid or to invite you back, that violates recruitment policies. The is a fine line of interpretation between being polite and promising. Also, people get eliminated because of GPA or something that you really don't have any control over.
Also, the girl or girls who took you through submit a score or rating, etc. Many times they do not know who is invited back. I don't think you can take it personally because they meet you for 20 minutes and decide yes or no.

While I believe there is great value in some sororities, the process for recruitment is anything but healthy or ideal. So many of these wonderful young women are exploring RUSH and need to understand it's not personal ... it's not an indicator of who you are or how far you'll go in this life. Instead, it is often a shallow reflection of this university subculture that weighs how you look greater than who you are. Yes, there are other "qualitative measures" that may factor in occasionally. Yet the reality of drawing conclusions from short interactions throughout a week or so is far from anything scientific or reasonably legitimate.
Ladies, if you do not get selected for a sorority -- or chosen for one of your top tier choices -- please know you are still AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, WORTHY, and FULL OF PROMISE.
Your present and future happiness and success is not contingent upon this.
Best to you all...

The whole point of recruitment is to see if you are a good match. If you walked into a house and the girls didn't pay attention to you because they didn't like you/ you didn't fit in, you would be complaining about that too
Greek life is NOT for everyone. This system is a mutual selection, girls are going to be nice to you because that is their job. Job interviewers are Nice to you and make you seem like you got the job but that does NOT mean that you are somehow entitled to that job.
