by: Help meI'm a sophomore rushing and my GPA is above a 2.5 and very close to a 2.75. My question is if a sorority wants a 2.75, would they drop people regardless if they have a 2.74 and below? Or is there a little fudging room and they'll take people if they're only a few points off to a 2.75? since the don't send chapter GPA until after the semester and I have the fall to get it up, would I have a chance of getting into a 2.75 house?

As far as I know, MSU sends GPA and enrollment status (taking 12 credits) of all PNM. I think the sororities are pretty strict about cut offs because their nationals will put them on social probation (no parties) if they don't...and they get checked. They don't mess with the GPA thing. Also, with 1200 girls going through, the GPA helps sororities tomorrow down the list. The system is not perfect. Mistakes are made. Girls do things they shouldn't do to get people in. Most freshman at MSU should have a 3.0 or above. Sophomores definitely are at a disadvantage here. Several top sororities have GPA below a 2.75. You will find a good place for you.

1200 is the average number of girls that go through each year so it will be around there probably

A lot of people have bad things happen to them. I do not think it is wise to bring up. Also, the GPA posted on the MSU greek life page may have changed. Some houses may have to increase their GPA because the house average is low and others do not put the current college students vs. incoming freshmen. I am guessing freshman vs. current students will be different and many post just one average.

It just sucks because I only have a low GPA because of horrible depression I had in the spring of freshman year. We're talking "medication and therapy" level bad. Is that something I should mention?
