greek life at MSU is pretty big and a great option for meeting friends. although it can be VERY political. this website only proves the problematic/toxic nature of greek life at MSU. if u plan on rushing STAY OFF GREEKRANK... so much misinformation that can poison ur judgements during rush

Greek life is huge at MSU. If you join a fraternity or a sorority you’ll have something to do all throughout college. Would definitely recommend rushing somewhere whoever you are. Doesn’t hurt to at least try it out

For sure the best Greek life school in the state of Michigan. One of the better big 10 schools for Greek life but isn’t at the level of Wisconsin, Ohio State, or Illinois; probably the same as Indiana. Despite tons of houses being kicked off recently though, Greek life is still a dominant force in the school. All the best parties on campus are fraternity parties and it offers the best way for guys and girls to meet each other and make friends. At a school of 50,000 with good football and basketball programs, it makes a lot of sense for Michigan State to have one of the best Greek systems in the country.

Michigan State Greek Life has given me a completely different view on what it's like to be in a Greek organization. They want to help and are constantly doing so, whether it be a dine-to-donate, a bottle drive, a 5k, or even Greek Week. Yes, there are parties, but that is not the main reason why Greek Life exists. It's to help the community as a whole.

Despite many top tier places falling apart for fraternities and sororities becoming slightly less popular for girls, Greek life here dominates the social scene. Top tier and upper middle tier fraternities are always the most popular places to party at. The Greek system here isn't as elite as other Big 10 schools but it's definitely way more fun than most other Big 10 schools. Don't listen to whatever snobby Michigan student says about MSU on this site, they're just jealous that we throw better parties and we have better people.

I feel like Msu Greek life has been on the decline, with frat houses getting in trouble and sororities having more and more trouble with a "good looking" pledge class. All the houses seem to be declining compared to their past. Hopefully this can be turned around.

Rush quickly became who you knew and how much money you have. And not to mention if you look a certain way or not. If you have long dark hair, youre in SK or KKG, if you're blonde, piphi or axphi. If you have curly hair youre in SDT. You have to have money and it has to show in what you wear and where youre from. If youre from california or chicago, expect a bid. If you're from an unheard of town in Michigan, good luck. If you know someone in greek life, you have a much higher chance of getting into a good house. It has nothing to do with who fits best or what you're like as a person, they just care to see if you're purse is gucci and if you have long straight hair and a nice body. If you look exactly like the girl who's rushing you, you have a pretty good chance of getting in. honestly not worth the time or money, make real friends instead of paying for a bunch that only have looks in common with you.

The sorority selection process is extremely competitive, but when it comes down to it, it's a lot of chance. The fraternity process is less rigorous and less competitive, but there's way more hazing involved. Also the girls are way hotter than the guys in my opinion. They really glam up and guys roll into parties looking like homeless people half the time.
